Description

Crafted by a professional actor and local guide, this immersive audio tour unearths the profound legacy of a neighborhood once celebrated as the center of Black wealth and enterprise. While large bus tours are restricted to main thoroughfares, this journey leads you through the intimate, narrow side streets of Sweet Auburn that hold the true spirit of the Civil Rights Movement. The stories take you through the hallowed grounds of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, the childhood home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and the historic APEX Museum. Using smart GPS technology, the immersive audio triggers automatically as you walk, creating a moving podcast that works entirely offline to preserve your data. As you pass the vibrant Curb Market and stand before the King Center, the cinematic storytelling transforms these landmarks into a living history. By the end of this walk, you will feel a deep, insider connection to the heroes who changed the course of American history.

Don't Waste your money

It was really bad. I couldn't get the app to work. The instructions were bad. The beginning place according to the address was no good. I'm glad I used my common sense because I wouldn't have gotten to see anything.

Enriching Fun

The audio directions were very clear. I enjoyed the history Phil shared, and leave Atlanta with a deeper appreciation of the civil rights movement.

Self-paced walking tour is affordable and fun!

This self-guided tour was awesome!! It was a perfect way to see the sites and neighborhoods that were pivotal in MLK's life as well as other Civil Rights icons. The pace was great and the app was super helpful. It even told me a few times when I turned the wrong way so those that have never been to ATL - never fear!! They won't let you get lost. I loved the whole thing! Sad that a few places mentioned (the Church bar) was not open when I walked through but other than that it was so interesting and fun. Thanks for an affordable and self-paced tour.

In the beginning it went...

In the beginning it went well. But after 40mins into it we ended up getting lost and the gps didn’t guide us back on the right track. We had to use our Waze to help us out. But overall it was dope. I just think they should have a actually tour guide person.

Awesome

Just being in the place where Dr King lived and where he was laid to rest. This was a great experience one that I’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Two thumbs up for this walking tour!

Learning about the civil rights history and the Sweet Auburn area made me feel more connected to Atlanta, where I've lived for 3 months now. The history didn't go overly in depth, I'll want to learn more, but I'm glad to know what made the city - and to have discovered a new nightlife area as well! The walking was easy and a refreshing change from the crowded museums.
