The Best of York on Foot in a Small Group

Description
Why follow the crowds? At Yorktour we believe a great tour should also be a fun conversation, which is why we guarantee there will be no more than eight participants so everyone can ask questions and no-one needs to worry about being left at the back! This family-friendly walking tour includes all the key sights - including the exterior of the Minster and the celebrated Shambles - though we will also lead you deep into the medieval maze of ‘Snickelways’ to follow in the footsteps of the Romans and Vikings who created York. Above all, our tours rely on great storytelling rather than gimmicks - so if we can’t remember everyone’s names there must be too many people taking part!

My husband and I were so thrilled with our tour guide, Sarah. In addition to her wonderful personality, she is a true scholar and educator. Since she keeps her tours to a small group, she can gage her audience. As a result she structures everything so beautifully that our attention never waned. She also shared interesting stories of people's lives that we all could relate to, even today. She brought back my love of learning. My husband said that he learned more in this 1.5 hour tour than he did in his Western Civilization course his freshman year of college. The best city tour awaits you with Sarah as your guide!
We had a fantastic walking tour in York with Sarah as our guide. She was incredibly friendly, engaging, and informative, doing a great job of catering to a group with a range of nationalities and different levels of knowledge about British and York's history. The tour covered a span of history, from York's earliest beginnings through to more recent events, with plenty of facts and stories along the way. Even with a good knowledge of history, I still learnt lots of new and interesting things. The small group size made a real difference, it was easy to keep up, hear everything Sarah was saying, and ask questions throughout the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting York who wants an enjoyable and informative introduction to the city's history
We had a fantastic day with Alfred who is so knowledgeable and entertaining. I highly recommend this tour if you are someone who appreciates history and context relevant to how history just repeats itself.
Alfred was a great and interesting guide. Perhaps less time at the Wall ruins and more in the city. Overall a great factual tour. Recommended.
The host was very amusing and new a lot..... It helped he is a local man.
Great tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and made it very interesting. Would highly recommend.
Friendly and knowledgeable guide.
Booked this for me and my partner and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We did it at the start of our weekend stay and it was a great way to learn lots of interesting things about the city. Alfred was a great tour guide, engaging, funny, and full of interesting stories that really brought everything to life. Would highly recommend!
This tour was our favorite activity in York. York is beautiful, alive, and vibrant with life. Walking through York is like walking through Disneyland except the town is real. Through her presentation, Farrah, our guide, used her knowledge of history and architecture to give us a wonderful overview of the history of England as it pertains to York. We were both educated and entertained. This tour was a great way to get a lot more out of our day in York. The tour was provided by Yorktours.
Sarah is very knowledgeable and informative and included fun facts. The walk was on the flat & not difficult.
