Sensoji (浅草寺, Sensōji, also known as Asakusa Kannon Temple) is a Buddhist temple located in Asakusa. It is one of Tokyo's most colorful and popular temples. The legend says that in the year 628, two brothers fished a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the Sumida River, and even though they put the statue back into the river, it always returned to them. Consequently, Sensoji was built nearby for the goddess of Kannon. The temple was completed in 645, making it Tokyo's oldest temple.
This tour will allow you to explore Tokyo more efficiently in one day. Meet at your hotel, then move to anywhere you want.
Kappabashi Street (かっぱ橋道具街, Kappabashi Dōgugai) is a shopping street between Ueno and Asakusa, which is lined with several dozens of stores selling everything needed by restaurant operators, with the exception of fresh food.
Ameyoko (アメ横) is a busy market street along the Yamanote Line tracks between Okachimachi and Ueno Stations. The name "Ameyoko" is a short form for "Ameya Yokocho" (candy store alley), as candies were traditionally sold there. Alternatively, "Ame" also stands for "America", because a lot of American products used to be available there when the street was the site of a black market in the years following World War Two.
Tsukiji Outer Market (築地場外市場, Tsukiji Jōgai Shijō) is a district adjacent to the site of the former Tsukiji Wholesale Market. It consists of a few blocks of wholseale and retail shops, as well as restaurants crowded along narrow lanes. Here you can find fresh and processed seafood and produce alongside food-related goods such as knives.
The Edo-Tokyo Museum (江戸東京博物館, Edo Tōkyō Hakubutsukan) is housed in a unique looking building in the Ryogoku district. The museum's permanent exhibition vividly illustrates the past of Tokyo (known as Edo until 1869) through its exhibits and covers many features of the capital from the Edo Period to relatively recent decades. In an interactive way, visitors are able to experience and learn about various aspects of earlier Tokyo, such as the way of life of people, Edo Period architecture, cultural heritage, political climate, commercial situation and more. Through numerous models of towns, figurines and life-sized figures, the museum makes it interesting to find out about how towns were constructed in the past.
About half a dozen museums, a zoo, a Toshogu Shrine and the Shinobazu Pond are just some of Ueno Park's attractions. Ueno Park is also Tokyo's most notorious cherry blossom party spot.

Had wonderful time and excited
We booked 2 different tours with this company. This review is for our 6 hour private tour of Tokyo by car. We opted for a private tour for the flexibility as we traveled with 2 young children in the midst of summer heat. Our guide, Show, and our driver were professional, knowledgeable, cordial and patient. We hit major sights in Tokyo and left feeling like we had a good overview of the city. This isn’t a cheap tour by any means but it’s was easy and extremely worth it on our family’s value scale. I highly recommended our guide and driver. Our guide contacted us before the tour to set an itinerary that worked for us. He had an awesome quick lunch rec for the kids. Don’t wait- just book. Highly recommended!
We booked a 6 hour Tokyo tour with Bruce Sugano and had a great experience! Bruce’s English is very good and he was flexible with us setting and changing the itinerary when we saw things we wanted to experience. We took the tour on our 2nd day in Japan and It was helpful to introduce us to the culture and help us gain an understanding of the city and some of its important sites. At the end of our tour, Bruce took us to one of his favorite sushi restaurants and introduced us to Japanese sushi! I would definitely recommend this tour!
Arigatou Gozaimasu for your review. Spending the day with your family was a genuine pleasure, and watching each moment turn into something memorable felt special. The capybara encounter was a highlight, where your family’s calm and friendly presence blended naturally with the capybaras’ relaxed nature. Seeing everyone discover how warm, gentle and expressive these animals can be gave the café a charming atmosphere. Before meeting ARISA, Tokyo’s robot concierge who welcomes visitors with cheerful poses, I tried to say “concierge,” but my pronunciation caused a brief moment of puzzled silence until your family kindly taught me the correct one. That lighthearted lesson became an unforgettable part of the tour. I am delighted that your first Japanese sushi experience added a perfect finale. In Tokyo, even a capybara’s slow blink can remind you to enjoy the journey. Best regards, Bruce SUGANO
We had the best tour with our guide Taku. He was super knowledgeable, shared interesting insights around historical aspects but was also very flexible and happy to accommodate the needs of our family with both teenage kids and a 6 year old. We’ve done history and culture but also modern and heaps of fun. He picked us up from our hotel and guided js through metro stations and busy streets with amazing efficiency. His communication was also excellent and very respectful. We would recommend Taku and his tour company to anyone visiting Tokyo. We’ve done so much within 5-6 hours and it didn’t feel overwhelming or tiring at all. And saved us from the many fights we would have had if trying to find our way around 😁
I am truly grateful for the excellent review you gave me. You are a cheerful and wonderful family, and you listened so attentively to my guidance. I thoroughly enjoyed showing you around. Thank you very much. I sincerely wish you and your family continued success and happiness. Taku
Hiromi Mizo was a wonderful guide and showed us through Himeji Castle and the neighboring garden. She is local to Himeji and the history and detail she was able to provide relative to the tour itself and the surrounding area made it very worthwhile.
Shuji made our 6-hour tour of Kyoto truly memorable. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and engaging, bringing Kyoto’s history and culture to life in a way that kept both adults and our 9-year-old entertained throughout the day. He tailored the tour perfectly to our family’s interests, shared fascinating stories, and made every stop fun and meaningful. Our son especially enjoyed the interactive explanations and local insights. We left with a much deeper appreciation of Kyoto and wonderful family memories. Highly recommend Shuji to anyone visiting Kyoto! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you so much for your high evaluation of my Guide. I am greatly pleased to hear that your family enjoyed the Tour. I also spent unforgettable time with your family talking about wide range of subjects regarding both countries. all your family asked many questions refering to Japan & Japanese which I was very happy. Thank you again. I wish your family every happiness in the future. Shuji
We did the Tokyo City Highlight Tour with local guide, 8 hour walking tour and our guide was Masahiro Takahashi. Masa was an amazing tour guide who was very knowledgeable about everything and spoke very good clear English. We were traveling as a family with young children and he was very friendly, patient, helpful and accommodating to everyone. We highly recommend this tour and were very pleased with Masa as our guide.
Your positive review will be a great motivation for my next tour. I really enjoyed the long walk with your family. The coffee break at the end of the tour was a peaceful moment for me. Thanks again for joining the tour. Looking forward to seeing you again in Tokyo. - Masa
We had a fantastic 6-hour walking tour in Tokyo with Bruce! He was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and especially thoughtful in the way he engaged and accommodated our three young children. From the start, Bruce went above and beyond, reaching out ahead of time to learn about our interests and tailoring the entire itinerary to match what we wanted to see. He made sure the experience was enjoyable for both us and our kids, which we really appreciated. During the tour, he helped us navigate the subway and even taught us some Japanese along the way. His fun quizzes were a highlight and kept everyone involved and learning throughout the day. One of the biggest highlights of our day was when he took us to a local sushi spot…we ended up having the best meal of our entire trip there! We highly recommend Bruce to anyone looking for a personalized and family friendly tour in Tokyo!
Arigatou Gozaimasu for your review. From our first “sumimasen” practice at Shinagawa, your family brought a wonderful energy to the day. The kids slipped through the morning rush without bumping into anyone, so they never even needed their new phrase, and we celebrated with a high five at the ticket machine. At Meiji Shrine (Meiji Jingu), their wishes on the ema, especially the hope to have a dog, made our stop at a fluffy dog café in Harajuku feel like a small dream coming true. Their enthusiasm kept every quiz lively and their skill with the training chopsticks at a sushi restaurant in Tsukiji was impressive. I also loved when your youngest daughter, who had quietly overheard us while focused on her grilled salmon, suddenly announced that I was born in the middle of nowhere. Everyone went silent for a moment before the table burst into laughter, a perfect reminder that the children had been listening closely all day. Her timing was flawless. Some wishes stay on ema, but the best ones follow you home like happy footsteps. Best regards, Bruce SUGANO
We had a wonderful family tour with our fated tour guide Sam. Sam customised our tour to ensure all members of our family were engaged. Sam went above and beyond to ensure we felt comfortable navigating the train system once the tour had concluded. A truly lovely family-friendly experience that we highly recommend!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I will never forget how much we all enjoyed talking about the WBC together. Although both your country and Japan have been eliminated... I am very curious to see who the ultimate winner will be! Spending time with you made this WBC truly memorable for me. Thank you again! Sam
We had a great day going around Tokyo, a mix of Temple, Subway and Palace. Very enjoyable a great as we were not family with the city, an excellent way to start.
Thank you for joining the tour and thank you very much for your wonderful comment. It’s indeed my great pleasure to hear that the tour was enjoyable. I appreciate various questions given to me during the tour, which was really my great pleasure. See you again. Izumi
