How Fun to See the Athletics in Sacramento!

How Fun to See the Athletics in Sacramento! We have seen the As in Oakland over the years. Friends said it was worth a drive to Sacramento to see them play in the stadium where the Sacramento Rivercats play. We purchased advanced tickets for both the game and for parking, and I'm glad we did. This way, we avoided a long walk in the sun from the car to the stadium. As you likely know, you cannot bring a large purse or backpack into the stadium - you need a plastic, see-through bag, or a small handbag. And aerosol spray sunblock is disallowed. You can probably guess that someone in our group had to return to their car and lock away these items. Anyhow, the park is spotlessly clean. It's noticeable how nicely maintained it is. The landscaping is very nice, with some fresh flowers in one area we walked through. Prices at the concessions stands are not as high as at other MLB ballparks we have visited. Some fans sat on the lawn and kids played with a hackey sack while they waited for the game to start. We had seats on the right field side. And truth be told, we sat farther back in our assigned section so that we could be in the shade. We would have moved if anyone claimed the seats we were occupying, of course. This writer gets the impression that a majority of fans had the same idea we did, because the shaded seats were all taken, and the full-sun seats remained somewhat unfilled. The Athletics beat the Tigers, which was fun, but even if they had lost, this still would have been an excellent MLB experience, with a very good view of the field, polite fans, polite employees, and a small-town feel to the game. I am very glad we went.
