Tasting of Bordeaux red wines, wine and charcuterie pairings

Description
Explorer of the Bordeaux vineyards in a 2cv and professional wine taster graduated from the University of Wine, I like to share my passion for wine! Sharing and conviviality will be there and as Georges Brassens said "The best wine is not necessarily the most expensive, but the one we share" The tasting course is accessible to all, it is an initiation to desacralize the world of wine. Our tasting room is located in the Bastide district on the right bank of Bordeaux, 200 meters from the majestic Pont de Pierre, one of the most beautiful monuments in Bordeaux, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our tasting room is located in a typical Bordeaux building, with the charm of stone and has a small private courtyard. This district in full revival mixes both a bohemian and industrial spirit in full metamorphosis, and is full of unusual places like Darwin or the Botanical Garden.

Fantastic wine experience, learning about the difference grapes, colour, regions that product the grapes. The tasting and pairing of food and how the wine can taste so different. The host was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. A very delightful experience.

Very intimate experience in a small house type of situation. Walkable from our hotel, gracious on the pours and discussion. English was good, conversation was good. Enjoyed!
We very much enjoyed our wine tastings with the knowledgeable Mathilde in an apartment across the Garone River at 25 Av. Thiers, 33100 Bordeaux, France! Only one other couple booked for that time--they from Scotland and we from the US, there with our hostess—made for a delightful, intimate gathering outside on the patio! We shared stories, laughed plenty, ate pieces of meats and cheeses from the charcuterie board and tested six different wines with generous pours, learned more about different wines, their terroirs and how to “taste” wine. Another group came in before we were finished (because we were late…details to follow), and Mathilde sat them in the kitchen, adjacent to the patio and began her teaching with them. She invited us to stay on the patio as long as we wanted. Details as promised: Months prior, we had easily purchased two tickets online for a reserved class, day and time. Per Google Maps, getting to the class via tram would take us 17 minutes from our hotel. The apartment is a 2 ½-block walk from the Stalingrad stop on Ligne C/D. Our hotel was near the Grand Theatre, so we started on Ligne A tram. A few stops later, there was a malfunction with the train, and after 15 minutes of attempting to fix it, the conductor told us all to disembark. What???? We were due to our class in ten minutes. And so, we, like other business people and tourists, walked VERY quickly to the River’s edge, along the Pont de Pierre bridge over the River and to the apartment. While hurrying across the Pont de Pierre, my husband searched (on his phone) for the phone number of the class in our Reservations folder so that we could call the class to let them know of our circumstances.. The number put us through to the owner, Cecilia, who shared that she was out in the vineyard harvesting grapes (how great is that!) but would let Mathilde know. I had suffered an injury to both knees and was trying as hard as I could to keep up with my 6’5” husband’s strides! We arrived, breathlessly panting, and our wonderful hostess/teacher took us right out to the patio, where she had waited for our arrival before starting. All quite adventurous, yet lovely and peaceful! The tram lines worked just fine for our return to the hotel…thank goodness! We highly recommend this in-home wine tasting experience for something more personal, in addition to touring the nearby vineyards of the Bordeaux region!
Cécilia was excellent at explaining everything; from the different wine making regions of Bordeaux to the complexities of each wine we tasted. She personalized the experience based on our preferences! Highly recommend this tour!
The Bordeaux Wine Tasting evening was very intimate and wonderful! Ilona is a fantastic hostess! She is knowledgeable and personable, and she ensured our evening was educational AND fun! Ilona provided very detailed info about the origins, composition, and differences of the wines we tasted. Our tasting was red wines only, which suited our preference perfectly! Ilona made the information she presented easy to understand and made it impossible for us to leave the tasting without buying some of the delicious wines to take home!😋 Thank you, Ilona for a wonderful and fun learning experience!
Excellent explanation of the Bordeaux wine areas, grapes and how to identify different wines. Matilde was very knowledgeable and personable and we learned a lot. We tasted 4 wines and Matilde showed us how to recognise the different grapes, their bouquet, and how they change with aging. Also how they change when drunk with food! I highly recommend it.
This was the greatest experience of my entire life! The immense selection of wine and the incredible knowledge of the host was astounding.
