In the heart of Provence, Avignon is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful jewels in the south of France, with its exceptional historical center, its renowned theatre festival and, of course, its delicious Provençal cuisine: aromatic herbs, tomatoes, olive oil, a good glass of Côte du Rhône and sun-ripened fruit. Possible tastings may change according to the season and availabilities of our partners. Let our local food expert walk you through the historic streets of this magnificent "City of the Popes", stopping at its delicious shops, tasting Rhône Valley wine and local specialties.
Inside the local covered market, where the locals run their errands and buy fresh ingredients to cook at home, you will discover the pillars of Provençal cuisine: local olive oil and fresh vegetables, used to prepare the famous tapenade. Here you will also try a slice of the famous pissaladière, a tasty and juicy onion tart with anchovies and olives. One of the most beloved snacks in town (lunch only)
At dinner, you will start with a classic Provençal aperitif! You will sip a refreshing glass of local wine while indulging in delicacies such as cheese or spreads, all depending on the availability of products that arrive every day from local producers (dinner only).
After a stroll along Rue de la République, one of the main streets in town, have a seat in this beautiful local restaurant and try one of their signature dishes: roasted cheese with honey. This unique combination of ingredients will surprise you. A true must have while visiting Avignon!
Place des Corps Saints is a square full of history, dating back to the Roman era. After discovering the secrets of these place, you will indulge in a slice of homemade cake, made of local ingredients like fresh fruit. A true gem, beloved by locals, and the perfect way to continue your tour on a sweet note!
Provence is well known for its fresh ingredients, that are used both for savoury and sweet preparations. In this adorable boutique, you will try some of them, such as honey, jam or flavoured local biscuits. You will taste all these delicacies in a boutique near the Pont d'Avignon, a bridge that was built in XII Century and that still nowadays has preserved some parts of the original construction. Our guide Nastassja was friendly and very informative, an excellent guide.
We very much enjoyed our culinary tour with Nastassja. We visited four different restaurants/shops. The food was diverse and excellent. We also visited the food market. The food was plentiful and delicious. It seemed that Nastassja was going going over and beyond to provide us a memorable experience. We highly recommend the tour and we highly recommend Nasstassja.
This was a delightful afternoon tour! The food was amazing. Learning about Avignon, its restaurants and its food was exactly what we were looking for. Nastassja, our tour guide, made the tour as great as it was. Highly recommend for couples, families and solos. Today (the day after the tour) I plan to go shopping at several of the places we enjoyed during the tour. If you consider yourself a foodie, this is a must do tour and Nastassja is the guide I would ask for.
This was very underwhelming and certainly felt very shirt of the painted picture in the description. Definately not worth the money ... food did not reflect descriptions , and the wine was house wines were very average quality. Tour guide ok... but little info exchanged ....
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. Regarding the guide's commentary, our guide informed us after the tour that two members of your group spent a significant portion of the experience watching a football match on television rather than following the explanations being provided. While we completely understand that personal interests and unexpected events can sometimes be distracting, this may have limited the amount of information received and contributed to the impression that little information was exchanged during the tour. With regard to the wine selection, we would like to clarify that this is not a wine-focused tour. The wines served are intended to complement the food tastings and provide an authentic local experience, rather than showcase premium or specialty wines. Nevertheless, we appreciate your comments and will take them into consideration. We are also sorry to learn that the food did not meet your expectations. We carefully select our partner venues and menus to reflect local traditions and flavors, and we take all guest feedback seriously as we continually strive to improve our experiences.
Our guide, Maryna, was lovely. Very knowledgeable about the history of Avignon and gave us many helpful recommendations to visit other towns in the Luberon. The food was interesting and diverse. Starting with a wonderful charcuterie followed by an olive oil tasting. Excellent lunch of baked Camembert and frites with wine and final stop for dessert of your choice. I would highly recommend the tour.
Our guide, Maryna, was lovely. Very knowledgeable about the history of the city of Avignon. The food was interesting and diverse. Olives, tapenade, Olive oil tasting, a wonderful baked Camembert lunch with wine and finished off with a delicious tart.
Our guide Marina was fun, informative and a joy to spend a few hours with on this food tour in Avignon. Marina met us promptly at the stunning Palais des Papes, giving us some historical background on the palace, and we proceeded to visit Les Halles, the main city food market. We enjoyed apero style appetizers, tasted the finest olive oils and balsamic vinegars from Serge’s Olives, and talked about the local delicacies and food customs of Provence. Next, we had an early lunch at Le Vintage with a glass of wine, while talking with Marina about all Avignon has to offer, culturally and socially. To follow up, though we barely had room after such a great meal, we went to a local tarte cafe, L’Epicerie de Ginette. Gorgeous raspberry and a pear/chocolate tarte, in a gorgeous historical square. Lastly, we visited one of the best local Avignon/Provence gift and gourmet shops to taste local sweets and honeys, and ended the tour with Marina giving us some background while viewing the famous Pont d’Avignon. Excellent time, excellent food, guide and company!
Clara was exceptional! We enjoyed meeting her and seeing Avignon from her hometown perspective! Highly recommend her!
Natasjja was a wonderful guide as she took us through the tour! We chatted on many things and she shared her deep love for the region with us. The actual tour was a let down as we were taken to various places to taste cheese, no protein. Nastajja made the tour enjoyable
Thank you for your kind words about Natasjja. We are delighted to hear that her passion for the region and engaging company made your experience enjoyable. We are sorry to learn that the culinary aspect of the tour did not fully meet your expectations. Our experience is designed around traditional regional gastronomy, showcasing local specialties and artisanal products that reflect the culinary heritage of the area. The tastings and menu are clearly described and available for guests to review before booking, allowing visitors to choose the experience that best matches their preferences. We appreciate your feedback and are pleased that Natasjja’s enthusiasm and knowledge helped make your time with us memorable.
A very enjoyable experience with a knowledgeable and friendly guide. A Culinary and history lesson all in one.
