Itinerary
Start this tour directly from your hotel or apartment in Barcelona city. We come to pick you up, so please be sure to let us know exactly where you are staying. Enjoy an overview of Barcelona city along the route, pass by Catalunya Square, Barcelona Cathedral, Passeig de Gracia and the Gaudi Houses, such as the Batllo and the Pedrera, and many other highlights.
Get on the road to head to Tarragona, a beautiful secret of the Mediterranean Coast. Tarragona is home to one of the most important and best preserved Roman archeological sites of the country, declared as World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Discover the many well preserved remains of this civilization in a walking tour of the Old Town with an expert and passionate guide. Before entering the city, get amazed by the ingenuous construction of the Devil’s Bridge. This aqueduct of 711 feet (217 meters) long and 85 feet (26 meters) high, is a spectacular example of the advanced Roman engineering. The Devil’s Bridge provided Tarragona with water right up until the 18th century. Take amazing pictures of this ancient bridge surrounded by woodlands.
Start a walking tour through the old town of the city and let yourself go through a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets and shady squares. Soak up the atmosphere and imagine what it must have felt like to live here during the middle ages or the Roman Empire times.
Get the chance to get inside of the amphitheatre of Tarragona, the 13th UNESCO listed Roman remains. The amphitheater was cut into the hillside leading up from the beach at the start of the second century AD and used to stage Gladiator contests and public executions.
You will see the Roman walls of the city, the oldest construction of the Roman Tarragona since they go back to the foundation of the initial military camp or the immediately later period.
Have a look to the Cathedral, declared a National Monument and a Cultural Good of National Interest.
Pass by a surprising monument of Castellers and learn from your passionate guide about this typical Catalan tradition of a human tower building. This massive creation, formed by a total of 219 figures, is 11 meters high and weighs about 12 tons. A must-see while being in Tarragona.
This basic but beautiful stop is fundamental to understanding Tarragona. The main market, Mercat Central, is located just off Rambla Nova and is housed in a Modernist hallmark building of 1915. This is where the heartbeat of the city lies and where to find fresh and seasonal products of the nearby rural area.
Pass in front of the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona, a public museum with elements and remains of its rich past. It promotes the recovery, conservation, research and dissemination of heritage from the Roman city of Tarraco and its area of influence. Perfect day with the perfect guide Louis! Definitely recommend it!
This tour was a fantastic way to learn all about the ancient history of Tarragona and explore the towns! Our guide Lluís was extremely knowledgeable and engaging, and gave us great insight into the history of the area. I especially enjoyed learning about the way the Romans structured their town, and how that got incorporated into the buildings we see today. I would definitely recommend this tour!
Lluís was our tour guide and he was very informative and knowledgeable. This tour allowed us to see more of Barcelona and Lluís made the experience even better!
Lluís was a great guide. He took us to some beautiful places in Tarragona and Sitges and was very informative about their histories. He was very engaging and I learnt heaps!
This tour should get a lot more attention from travelers. Our guide, Luis, was informative of the Roman ruins and both cities. Tarragona was quaint and well worth a visit. Sitges is a beachfront hidden gem. Luis provided door to door service and the drive back along the coast was stunning. Highly recommend this trip.
A great tour overall, and Luis was a great tour guide. He shared lots of pertinent information about the sites we visited, was able to answer all our questions, and was flexible about the itinerary. We appreciated the attention to smaller details of the tour as well. The van was nicely air conditioned, the pickup was right at our hotel, and Luis was able to recommend places to eat and explore on our free time.
Today we enjoyed a wonderful day trip from Barcelona to Tarragona and Sitges! Our guide, Lluis was fantastic, offering the perfect balance of history, local legends/stories and also great suggestions for some brunch in Tarragona and then later, in Sitges, for lunch. Seeing the Amphitheatre and the Roman Circus etc up close was a great experience and all of the extra details Lluis told us about definitely brought the cities to life much more than if we’d just gone on our own. His air-conditioned mini van was very much appreciated and having some time to run into a couple of shops was a bonus. Thanks Lluis.
Miquel is an amazing tourguide and driver. No dull moments with him. He is helpful, on time and ensure everyones safety. Tarragona and Sitges tour is an amazing tour packed in a day. Its highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our day trip from Barcelona, a good way to beat the crowds and see interesting sites! Our tour guide and (very good) driver Miquel was excellent! He was funny and clearly enjoyed being a tour guide. We saw a full Roman aqueduct, beautiful city of Tarragona with more Roman ruins, a guided walk through Sitges, and stops for coffee, water, gelato and a walk or dip in the Mediterranean if we liked. We also had a delicious lunch of fresh seafood facing the beach. We would highly recommend this tour with Miquel!
This was a good trip to some interesting sites. One thing that is needed is a microphone for the guide while driving. It was very difficult to hear Lluis giving his historical information for those of us in the middle or back of the van. Other than this it was a great day.
