Description

This day trip is guaranteed to make your stay in the island unforgettable. This tour has adrenaline and adventure, history and archeology, beautiful scenery and beaches. The drive to Arecibo is About an hour and it is beautiful from start to finish. We arrive and begin our hike to the cave of the Taino. Bring good shoes as the hike is quite rocky. The entrance to the cave is not for claustrophobic people. it is bit challenging but with our careful instructions you will be able to get inside (barring any physical conditions that hinder you). The cave is other worldly. You get transported to the past as you see the over 100 carvings in the stone that are hundreds, maybe thousands, of years old. After we exit the cave we will hike through the famous 7 arches of Arecibo. The arches are natural rock formations which can be appreciated in pictures, but only in person will you realize how beautiful it all really is. Last we visit a non-touristy beach that is amazing!

Get ready for the most unique experience in your life! First we meet up in Condado. From there you ride with us. The drive is about an hour and takes us to the heart of Arecibo. Arecibo is one of the cities with the richest historical legacies in all of Puerto Rico. The drive itself is very beautiful, but our first destination is absolutely breathtaking. When we get there we will do a short hike (wear good sneakers) to the mouth of the cave! Keep your cameras handy because the views are out of this world. The cave of the Taino Indian is a small cave system that is a historical and archeological wonderland! This cave is literally covered in Taino stone carvings. It is breathtaking and the scenery even more so! After we exit the cave, we make our way to the 7 arches to take in the amazing views. After another short hike back to the car, we head out to a beautiful beach in Arecibo as well. This tour will give you a taste of the Caribbean lifestyle/history/culture.

Life changing experience

I had a great time with Sean. He was an attentive and knowledgeable guide. He came an picked me up from my Airbnb and drove me to the hiking location. Along the way, he stopped and bought Puerto Rican donuts for me to try and answered all of my questions about the island. The actual tour is truly life changing. I have never climbed into a tiny cave like that before, but it was so worth it. The preserved carvings and the spirts of the Taino people are incredible to witness. I felt honored to be there. Wear hiking boots or sneakers with good tread and you’ll be okay. The beach and bbq we had afterwards was the perfect way to end the tour. Highly recommend!

Wow…

10/10 experience. The views while walking up to and at the seven arches were breathtaking. Not a bad hike - short and rocky, but nothing terrible if wearing the right footwear (something with a good thick sole). I was a little nervous about what getting into the cave would be like, but our guide Kenyon showed us exactly what to do and we got down into the space (and eventually back up) without any trouble. I’m so glad we did. You could feel the life and the history in the cave carvings and space itself. Kenyon was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I could have honestly spent the whole day there. Due to the holiday weekend, the beach we had planned to go to was packed, so we improvised and went to another spot he knew of. Spent some time there before heading to a lunch spot where we stuffed ourselves. This was really such a great time and would highly recommend to anyone looking to do something a little different, a little scary, but a lot wonderful.

Sacred ground, wild water, and a guide who made it all come alive

A rare tour where the experience exceeded description. Our small group moved through cliff faces etched with Taíno petroglyphs, ducked into caves that felt genuinely ancient, and finished soaking wet in the best possible way: jumping into a river, swimming through a cave pool, and standing under a waterfall that hit like a reset button. Guide elevated the experience. His knowledge of Taíno history, cosmology, and spiritual relationship to the land wasn't Wikipedia-level recitation — it was contextual, felt, and clearly personal. As a local (he grew up and still lives in the area, you knew the river "belongs" to him in some deeper sense, not just geographically.. He was also genuinely warm and attentive. One group member was hesitant about squeezing through the narrow entrance into the cave, and he handled it with exactly the right mix of patience, encouragement, and zero pressure. Two suggestions for an already excellent experience: the pacing in the 2sthalf felt slightly rushed — more time to sit inside the cave environment, especially after the cultural context our guide had built, would go a long way. And by the midpoint, between the heat and the swimming, a simple food option — fruit, something local and light — would be a welcome addition. Would recommend without hesitation, especially for anyone who wants an experience that holds cultural depth and physical adventure together.

Amazing Experience But There Are Risks

This was an absolutely breathtaking experience with amazing views. But be aware that this tour requires either physically fitness and/or an extremely competent guide (more on that below). Tips if you want to go: wear closed toe shoes, hydrate beforehand, and wear sunscreen. If you want to bring your phone, secure it on your person because you will need both hands free. Also store hand sanitizer in the car because you’re likely to get bat guano (poop) on your hands. The tour is broken down into two parts: the hike to the cave and the cave itself. The first part is easy, the second is not. The hike to the cave is doable for pretty much anyone, except those with mobility issues. The cave itself is more challenging and not for anyone in poor health, claustrophobic, or prone to panic attacks. It may also be more difficult for anyone who is short (adults or kids). You climb in through a crack in the cave face and then have to brace yourself against the walls and do a sort of sideways shimmy above a crevice (back to one wall and arms and legs against another), after which you swing your body around to a small ledge and climb down into the cave properly. The only safe way out is the way you came in. My family and I are in moderate health, but we would absolutely not have been able to do this without our tour guide. Our tour guide was indispensable and had to talk one person down from a panic attack getting into the cave and then physically haul me out part of the way leaving because I was too short to reach some of the footholds. Our tour guide also had to help several other tourists (including unsupervised kids) who decided to try the cave on their own and got stuck, nearly hurting themselves and others in the process. During our research we found out several people had died just this year in the cave and surrounding area; having done it now myself, I see exactly how dangerous it is and how easy it would have been for someone to get hurt. It’s an amazing experience, but there are definitely risks that people should be aware of.

Loved it!

Amazing experience if you’re brave enough! The hike up to the cave was easy enough, but getting into the cave was a bit scary. Our tour guide, Nestor, was really good about being supportive and encouraging. I’m really glad I did it. It was a rewarding experience to visit my ancestors.

June trip

The experience with Edward and Fabiola was wonderful. The walk is a bit tough but our group including septuagenarians managed. The caves require even more dexterity so be aware. Wonderful views of the water from the top

Adventurous trip with Nestor!

Néstor was the best part of the trip. Without him, the visit would not have been the same. He shared lots of good stories and knows how to navigate the cave well. He set the mood. For those going, dress light, wear grippy shoes, and only take the minimum necessary items. The cave entrance is really narrow.

LOVED IT!!!

Eduard was an amazing guide! Very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico as a whole and genuinely a charismatic, down to earth person who keep my family and the entire group engaged the entire time! Would definitely recommend Eduard as an English and Spanish speaking guide! 10/10.
