The Go Sydney Shuttle worked perfectly. Alex was there to pick us up at the cruise terminal and take us to our hotel. The company communicated with us when we had questions in a timely manner. I highly recommend this company and Alex.

Go Sydney Tour Company service from Cruise Ship to Hotel transportation

We have been travelling since December 11 and on December 29, we were attempting to leave a cruise ship and go to our hotel for the remainder of our trip of 10 family members, I placed an order for 2 vans to hold 5 people each. We reported on multiple communications that we had 2 - 3 pieces of luggage per person. And, I reported repeatedly in communications that several people were fairly large people with some difficulty walking. So, my goal was to provide a very comfortable ride for all of my family of 10 people and to accommodate the luggage issues. The pick up time was to be at 10 a.m. The van arrival after multple request for an ETA, was 10:27 a.m. The cruise terminal was trying to get us to go outside and wait while they prepared for incoming visitors. The Go Sydney Tour company decided to switch our ride from TWO VANS for 5 people to ONE van that was supposed to hold 12 people. It did not hold my 10 family members comfortably. And, the driver insisted in adding an eleventh person who was not going to our destination. So I was forced to hire an Uber and send 3 of my family members separately to the Four Seasons Hotel. When I complained to the tour operator, he argued that the van was permitted to be combined without any notice and that it was a shared van for 12 people and "sorry everyone was not comfortable". I was charged for two vans at $105 each. When I reported my dissatisfaction to the headquarters, they told me they are permitted to combine 2 separate reservations without notice and that the terms were ONE piece of luggage person. Further the person stated I should have been charged extra due to the fact that I had more than 1 bag person and basically, I am lucky I did not get that extra charge. I paid $210 total and I paid Uber an additional $25 to get my family members to the hotel. I requested a refund or at least a discount on one of the two vans and was promptly told NO and feel free to write a review that they will be compelled to address. So, that is my review. Of the 14 different Viator rides/tours that I have booked on my current trip, this one has been disappointing to say the least. The rest have been pleasant and worth booking through Viator. I still have 4 more events for the remainder of my travel. 3 of them are transportation requests to the airport and I don't want to experience the same disregard for my specific requests that are always very clear upon making the reservations as well as well planned communications with the tour operators.

Operator response

This booking was for a shared shuttle service, which is a lower-cost option than a private transfer. The expectations described relate to a private transfer, which was not booked or paid for. Despite the group arriving with far more luggage than the 1-suitcase-per-person allowance stated on the voucher, everyone was transported and no excess luggage charges were applied, although they normally would be. As this is a shared shuttle, passengers may have different destinations. Some members of the group chose to leave earlier for a tour, which was unrelated to the shuttle service. There were sufficient seats available at all times. The service was delivered as booked. Most of the group was lovely; unfortunately, one individual’s expectations did not align with the shared service selected.

Unacceptable wait

Not used because 3 hrs waiting plus very overpriced. Port-hotel only 18 miles. I hope my two scheduled tours are with a more serios operator. Thanks

Operator response

This review is misleading. Prior to arrival, the guest confirmed that she would be disembarking at 10:00 am and the shared shuttle was scheduled accordingly. On the day, she disembarked at 7:00 am and requested immediate pickup. Shared transfers operate on fixed schedules and cannot depart early on demand. The next available service was within 20 minutes, not 3 hours. Pricing is clearly displayed at the time of booking. If the price or service type is unsuitable, we recommend not proceeding with the booking.

Just Ok

They kept telling me that I put down the wrong dock for pick up. Tell you the truth I pay little attention to this and really was not aware where we were docking. This frequently changes. Not sure why you didn't know where the ship would dock in Sydney - not like there were a lot of ships that day. In any case I changed to the personal pick up and it was ok. But the charges to go about 5 blocks were crazy. Seriously if you don't want to pick someone up and take them to a hotel that is close - do not offer it. If I was younger, I would have walked. This has not happened on previous pickups using Viator. I am disappointed.

Operator response

Thank you for your feedback. We’d like to clarify that all pricing and pickup details are fully transparent at the time of booking, and we encourage customers to review these carefully to ensure the service aligns with their expectations and budget. If the cost of a short-distance transfer feels too high, it may be best not to book, as prices are set in advance and visible before checkout. Regarding the pickup location, it’s important to note that Sydney has two cruise ports—Overseas Passenger Terminal (Circular Quay) and White Bay Cruise Terminal—which are located in completely different parts of the city. Because of this, the distance to the hotel and the fare can vary significantly depending on which port the ship uses. This is why we rely on the docking information provided by the customer. When the wrong port is given, it makes coordinating the transfer difficult and can affect the logistics and cost. We’re glad the personal pickup ultimately worked out, but double-checking port details and selecting a service that matches your needs is the best way to avoid any issues. Thank you again for sharing your experience.
