We had a great time in this tour. The weather was not the best but that's out of the companies control :) The guide was very nice and experienced. The only thing I would change if I went again is to ask the captain to take some photos for us as the guide was with us in the water. It would be great to have photos of the family in the ocean with the sealions.
The tour is amazing, simply surreal. The boat has a very good structure and the professionals are very attentive. The only point to improve would be to provide boys or guides to use at sea. On the day the sea was very agitated and it gave me a lot of insecurity. Another company was operating on time and seemed to have a better support at sea, but by the way, super recommend!
So much fun! Saw penguins, sea lions, so many birds and a whale. Water wasn't cold. Take your seasickness medicine.
This was a fantastic experience. We had a few hours to spare before our flight back to Ireland and we are so glad we did it. The weather was good, the sea had a good swell and our guide was spot on. He knew his stuff and just looked after us very well. He sent us photos of the experience which was a nice touch. There is a strong smell around the island but it didnt take from the experience. I would highly recommend this and it was the highlight of our time in Lima.
There were various problems with our excursion. I was with a group of 4, and we were initially separated due to a mistake made by the person who checked us in (me & one friend got the wrong colored wristband and ended up on the wrong boat). They did not realize until we were on the wrong boat, and then someone had to come and take us back to the correct boat. The "wrong" boat was much more in line with what the excursion was advertised as - a larger yacht with a bathroom/changing area. Our boat seemed to be a fishing boat. The boat we were on was very small and did not have anywhere to change or a private bathroom. This would have been fine, but it did not match the description on the website. The sea lion excursion was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but do not underestimate how bad the waves are (or how bad sea lions smell). The area of the ocean is very wavy due to the nearby large islands, so if you are prone to sea sickness you should definitely prepare with medicine. Unfortunately during the time we were swimming with sea lions, our boat broke, and the captain was trying to fix it for over an hour. While this may not have been preventable, during this time there was absolutely no communication around what was going on, and we were in a very wavy area of the ocean. Many people on the boat got sick or sunburned. They used our drinking water to try to fill the engine. Nobody told us what was wrong with the boat or what we should expect in terms of when we'd get back. Overall, while it was a cool trip that I will likely not have another opportunity to experience, we were extremely disappointed by the misrepresentation on viator as well as the lack of communication when our boat was broken. Our guide actually fell asleep at some point. I would recommend this excursion through another company. It would have been better if we knew what to expect in terms of the size of the boat, the amount of waves, and when/how we'd be getting home after the boat broke.
When I found out that there is such rich fauna so close to Lima, I couldn’t miss this trip. We saw sea lions and penguins, and it was absolutely worth it! Our guide was very friendly and explained everything to us in detail. This trip is worth much more than it costs!
Hi, Elena! Thank you very much for your kind words! We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed the experience and had the chance to see the sea lions and penguins up close. We're also happy to know that our guide helped make the tour even more memorable with detailed explanations. We hope to welcome you again on another adventure in the future. Best regards!
A wonderful experience – the boat tour gives you the chance to explore the bay. The trip is very well organised, with clear and precise instructions given before departure. The guides are really friendly and attentive. Swimming with the sea lions was a truly unique experience for me – I highly recommend it!
Once in a lifetime experience! The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Definitely a highlight of our trip.
Fun family experience if the sea is calm and no one is prone to seasickness. The staff was also very professional and friendly. However, our booking was clearly stating their would be an English guide and there wasn’t. Not a big issue for us as we are pretty easy going, I do speak spanish a little and other travelers were also able to help us. But I can see this being a source of stress for more insecure tourists.
This was one of the coolest things we did! The pacific is freezing cold but once you go numb you don’t even notice anymore 🤣
Thank you very much for your comment. The water is cold, but our wetsuits help keep you comfortable so you can handle the cold.
