Sunset Dinner with a Private Chef by a 10th Century Castle

Description
This is a very unique activity because all products are directly sourced from around a village in the Castilla La Mancha area of rural Spain. Nothing served comes from city supermarkets, all from local farms. Congratulations for responsible travel & supporting local family farmers around this small village (pop. 67). I’m Paul your private chef who travelled, cooked & ate my way around Spain. Typical dishes could be 25 day old baby lamb or pig, or bulls tail slowly cooked for 8 hours in wine n herbs from the land. Even River fish, or La Mancha egg plants, vegetables from my garden. I cook to Michelin star standard but I will never want a Michelin star as I refuse to work in a restaurant. I love cooking in this hidden village in small, or private groups. I cook in my private home by the 10th century castle. I’ll connect the dishes to the history of the African people who built the castle over 1000 years ago: La Mancha Spanish farm cuisine with an Air of African Arabic influence.

If you do just one tour while in Madrid, make it this one. It’s easily the best tour we’ve experienced in many years. The small group size (just four people) made it feel personal and relaxed. The hosts were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and exceptionally knowledgeable. The food was outstanding—fresh, locally sourced from the village and surrounding valley, and a true highlight of the experience. A special thank you to Paul, Ian, and Juan for creating a truly unforgettable memory.

Paul and Juan were amazing hosts and tour guides from pick up to drop off over 5 hours later. The food was outstanding. Paul should have his own TV cooking show.
Note that the dinner is not at the castle, but at a residence next to the castle. Food was delicious!
Hi - So glad you thought the food was delicious. It really is Michelin star standard! Thanks! Please let me make 3 points: 1) The tour description does not state the dinner is in a castle. It's very clear in all texts about the tour. (House built into rocks BELOW and BY the castle in a beautiful village). 2) Here is my apology: Across the platforms I have this tour over 5 years, and we have 1000+ reviews and all are 100% 5 stars, except for yours. So I apologise it was only a 4-star experience for you both. You are a fabulous 2 in 1000 ha ha ha! 3) The extra airport pick up and drop off by me was generous making it easy for you both, normally costing in 70€ in return public cabs.
This was a really well designed and delivered experience. Paul was in touch before the day and even offered us the chance to join with another group which unfortunately we couldn’t do due to timing. So we went ahead as booked. Ian met us and took us to their apartment. Everything was set up and ready to go. Ian and Juan talked us through each of the drinks and food we were about to have. We really appreciated knowing the what and why (and also what to look out for when we went to buy more for ourselves). A unique experience which we enjoyed. We returned to our exploration of Retiro park well fed.
Delicious charcuterie & good selection of wines . Intimate tasting in his private flat by the Retiro Park. We also meet some really nice people who we hung out with afterwards. Amazing value for money and Í would say try and do it when you arrive as he has some great advice to get the best out of your stay
This experience was amazing! Ian was very thorough with his explanations. I love how everything that was served was very high quality and organic products locally sourced. I highly recommend this experience to anyone travelling to Madrid and wants to learn a little about the culture of food & drinks!!
Paul and Juan were great hosts. We learned about local food and drink in a fun, relaxing environment. Next time to Madrid we will sign up for the village experience! Paul has tremendous experience in the food and tourism industry.
Book this incredible tour now! I lost count of how many tastings there were! Paul is a great storyteller, and he's also helping a small cooperative community by showing their products to the rest of the world! It is amazing to try local produce with its full description, totally recommendable!
