This two-hour walking tour is a great way to be introduced to Zanzibar. I was fortunate to have Ferangi (sp) as my tour guide. He provided a historical overview of Zanzibar, explained the architecture, including the beautiful Zanzibar style doors, and took me thorough a fun and interesting tour of the maze of Zanzibar streets and local neighborhood sites. The tour included visiting the East Africa slave trade museum which Ferangi gave me the option on how much time I needed to review the exhibits in museum, and in the church, he provided more information about this sad and dark part of human history. We went to the Souk (open air market) where Ferangi helped me find some tea, visited the beautiful park by the ocean, and visited the Fort, all while hearing about Zanzibar's history and other local information. I highly recommend this tour, and apologies if I misspelled my guides' name.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative about the place. I also appreciated how he grew up there and could tell you how other buildings changed. He was also kind enough to end the tour at the restaurant we had a reservation at for lunch 🙂.
Fero was our English guide charming and knowledgeable, we had so much fun with him strolling around stone town and fantastic pictures too. We booked and requested a pick up from the ocean paradise in Zanzibar which cost $60; other tour operators asked us $80 each for the tour including transportation… Richie our driver was fantastic too as he left us with Fero and came back to pick us up! Faultless, I wished I was going in the hotel terrace for a coffee with our guide to enjoy the panoramic views. So if you are lucky enough to have Fero as guide, I strongly suggest you to do it as I have missed out.. Last but not least, this is the first time ever we taking a tour guide which tailored everything as we want, in past experiences we had guides that were taking us in particular shops or places which were not interesting for us but a sort of tourist trap . Enjoy and relax. Thank you very much
Wonderful historic and educational experience. Our guide was Fero (Freddie) who was great. He was in contact with us days before the trip to make sure everything was prepared. He was every informed and answered all of our questions about this beautiful island’s history.
