This was by far one of our favorite excursions. It was very moving and educational. Eva’s personal family story really brought the experience to life. Her story made the ride to Vught go by so fast. Five stars was the max I could give. I would give it a 10 if I could. I highly recommend this excursion to anyone coming to Amsterdam and looking for unique experience.
The personal stories & information shared was priceless. This was the best tour we experienced during our 2 weeks in Europe.
Thank you for the huge compliment Michelle, it was an honor to have you and Ryan on board. All the best to you both! Eva - Dutch Tours
Beautiful visit to the camp. Instructive and moving. The site is well arranged. The museum offers short testimonies from former detainees.
Really thought provoking place. Our guide Elice was a great driver and she knew so much about the camp and its history.
Thank you very much for your kind review Ann, it is a challenging but important tour indeed. I'm glad you appreciated the day. All the best, Maelys - Dutch Tours
Our guide was sweet, kind, and an excellent driver, and the site's history is deeply moving. However, the transport van was unbearably hot as the air conditioning only functioned in the front.
Hello Luz, thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour and our excellent tour guide. We are very sorry to hear that the van was so hot. Unfortunately we have indeed experienced some fairly un-Dutch hot days this week. The air conditioning should normally be functioning in the whole van, not just in the front. We are currently investigating what went wrong on your tour. We are terribly sorry that the transport was so uncomfortable and and will take action for future tours. Best regards, Eva - Dutch Tours (tour operator)
My family of 4 loved this tour-a highlight of our trip. Ava was a fantastic guide and amazing storyteller. Her knowledge of WWII and the holocaust was close to her heart and it showed. I highly recommend booking with her!
It was a joy to have your family on this tour Kara! Your girls really impressed me with their questions and open spirits and the discussions with all four of you were inspirational. So thank you your family's input in the tour too, I really enjoyed that! Whenever you find yourself back in NL, you know where to find us :) All the best to the whole family, Eva - Dutch Tours
Eva's storytelling brought the past to life, painting a vivid picture of historical events against the backdrop of the locations themselves. Her narratives focused on individual stories of choice, bravery, and courage, highlighting the accounts of people who chose to resist rather than be swept away by the prevailing current of events. The experience was deeply enhanced by the locations, which offered not only visual context but also a tangible connection to the past. Eva intimately shared her own family's personal journey, detailing their preparation for survival, the challenges of hiding, and their life after the war. This personal connection transformed the historical account from a simple story into a deeply moving and relatable human experience. The tour also provided a powerful moment of reflection, showing what the one's destiny could have been if they hadn't made certain choices, while also paying solemn respects to those who were not as fortunate in their circumstances or fate. What began as a simple online booking evolved into a pivotal moment of reflection on the past and present, not just as an individual but also for our entire small group. (Thank you Peter, Sharon, and Eva.) This was a truly unforgettable experience, and one that will never be forgotten.
Thank you so much for joining us on this tour. We hope it was meaningful for you. The historic impact of WW2 was enormous in this part of the world. We are honored that we could show you some of the historic sights. Kind Regards, Sarah, Dutch Tours
A must do to see the tragic history of WW2 and the living memorial. Our guide Sarah and her personal connection to this period is haunting and yet enlightening. Highly recommend
So good to hear from you and thank you for all the praise! We are very glad that you appreciated the tour and hope you enjoyed the rest of your vacation here. Safe travels! Kind Regards, Sarah, Dutch Tours
We have done hundreds of tours. Good ones give helpful and accurate information the guide learned from classes or books. We booked this tour with Eva after visiting castles with her last year and learning of her personal story of how she and her family were so personally impacted by the Nazis. Many survivors do not talk about the camps, but Eva's father is actually quite famous for sharing his tragic and impactful story. We got to hear and experience directly from Eva. Not an easy day, but so meaningful.
So good to hear from you and thank you for all the praise! We are very glad that you appreciated the tour and valued the personal insights from Eva's family. Safe travels! Kind Regards, Sarah, Dutch Tours
I highly recommend this experience with Dutch Tours. The owner and tour guide, Eva, is knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly has a passion for what she does. She cares about people and it shows. The content on this tour is obviously heavy but it is so important that people continue to remember the past and honor those who have endured tragedy. Eva’s personal family history adds to the impact and makes the experience even more meaningful. The travel time to and from Vught flies by as Eva shares her stories along with information about the area and answers questions. There is a nice cafe at the museum where you can have drinks & snacks along the way. Eva was prompt and the meeting place was easy to find with the instructions provided. Do not hesitate to book this tour - no one else is offering this experience and it is well worth it!
Thank you so much for your very detailed review Jennifer! It was wonderful having you on board, I'm happy to hear that our efforts show. Hope to see you another time! Best regards, Eva - Dutch Tours
