Sloth Watching , Coffee, Chocolate & waterfall Experience

The tour provider reached out about cancelling with TripAdvisor and booking directly through them for a completely private tour (just the ten of our family) for the same price, so we agreed to it. And the pickup was timely and driver was very nice (Orlando - super friendly guy), but the tour guide was not direct with us about the plan for the day. When we finally got him to tell us the plan he said we were skipping the waterfall (that was supposed to be 45 minutes from Tamarindo), because it was closed for road work, and would be going to an amazing river for swimming instead. Then we drove almost three hours. The river was a small section of very fast moving water that we worried about the kids swimming in. There was just a rope to hold on to, to avoid heading into the rapids. There was no waterfall. The sloth watching part was okay, and the coffee and chocolate part was great. Then we drove back almost three hours, stopping (without being asked if we wanted to) at an overpriced souvenir shop after they put stickers on our shirts (they get a percentage, we guessed) about two hours in. Rather than 6 hours, the whole trip was close to 10 hours, and most of that was in the van. The driver was nice but talked about himself more than the actual sights we were seeing, and shared some bizarre opinions about U.S. politics that we did not ask for. Overall, the experience was somewhat worthwhile, but not what we thought we thought we were getting and definitely not worth what we paid. The next day, we googled the waterfall and learned that it had actually been OPEN THE WHOLE DAY!! Suspect the tour company just wanted to keep the $7 x 10 entry fee rather than pay it on our behalf after getting our money. We came to Costa Rica and saw ZERO waterfalls. Disappointing! And we wonder if it would have been handled differently if we hadn't agreed to book directly instead of keeping the booking through TripAdvisor.

It was wet and chilly but a wonderful experience. Guides were knowledgeable, fun and efficient. My first time in July but I really enjoyed the cooler weather and didn’t mind the rain. Would recommend a wind breaker, a hat and rain boots to change into. The temperature change with the micro climates are unpredictable and can be a little uncomfortable if not prepared. We loved Kevin at the nature center. He was kind natured and Knowlegable.

My experience was great! I went with my family on a private sloth watching tour, and it was fantastic! Our tour guide, Alejandro, was just amazing. He knew all of his facts, places, he was very patient, understanding, and he was very funny. Highly recommend.

Rudy (our guide) and Orlando (our driver) were absolute delights on our Nature Lover’s tour. They were exceptional hosts and incredibly knowledgeable. All the stops on the tour were beautiful, but the highlight was for sure the wildlife tour up in the rainforest. Getting to see two species of sloth, two species of frogs, and a pit viper was unforgettable.

Highly recommend this excursion. It's a full day of diverse experiences. The tour guides (ours were Rudi and Louis) were very accommodating and helpful. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun.

Alejandro and Mauricio – The Best Duo! Alejandro was our tour guide, and Mauricio was our driver. Together, they made our day absolutely amazing! Alejandro was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. He shared the history of Costa Rica throughout the tour, making every stop even more meaningful. We visited a beautiful waterfall, toured a coffee and chocolate farm, and explored the rainforest. Every activity was fun, interesting, and well worth the experience. Oh, and how can I forget the delicious lunch!! Mauricio made sure we traveled safely and comfortably to each destination, allowing us to relax and enjoy the day. We had an unforgettable time with both Alejandro and Mauricio. Their professionalism, friendliness, and dedication made this one of the highlights of our trip. We highly recommend requesting this outstanding team if you have the opportunity!

Our guide Rudy and the driver (whose name I can’t recall) were very accommodating on our private tour. Highly recommend them for being very friendly and knowledgeable. We had some great conversations on our day long trip seeing sloths, toucans, frogs, chocolate & coffee beans and even an eyelash snake. They were considerate of our time and made smart last minute changes to make sure we avoided crowds and got to make the most of our trip. Highly recommended.

We took this tour with our two sons (ages 18 and 15). It was incredible and our tour guide Rudy was fantastic. He kept us entertained on the drive with stories and information. We got to see a sloth up close and personal along with other animals, bugs and snakes! We also really enjoyed the waterfall and coffee/chocolate tour. Overall it was an amazing and memorable day. The lunch was also yummy. We didn’t feel rushed at all. We highly recommend! Well planned and a great way to spend a day in Costa Rica.

Fun day out! Rudy was a great guide. We headed out early. Unfortunately because of heavy rains, we couldn’t do the falls. We went to a part of the river that wasn’t pretty. A bit disappointing. But the sloth watching was a cool experience! We saw a snake, toucans, frogs and several sloths, one being very close. Lunch was great, and the coffee/chocolate tasting was a fun experience. Overall, a nice day to see and explore Costa Rica.

This was a wonderful excursion! We had Jose as our guide and Orlando was the driver. Everything was super organized and planned out very well. They had little surprises along the way that were great. It’s a long day but they made it fun the whole way. We had a wonderful guide named Kevin during the rainforest part of the trip. He really enjoys the animals and helped with getting great pictures. Jose had our lunch pre ordered which was amazing. Jose even had a wonderful guy named “Drone Man” help us with photos at the waterfall. Like I said everything was smooth and planned out. It would be great for kids. I would highly recommend this tour! Ask for Jose if you can.
