An Unforgettable Experience at Hook Lighthouse

My partner and I did the last tour of the day at Hook Lighthouse, and it was genuinely one of the best guided tours we've ever been on. Our guide, Noel, was absolutely outstanding. He was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, friendly, and genuinely passionate about what he does. From the moment the tour started, he had everyone engaged, and his enthusiasm made the whole experience so enjoyable. His knowledge of Hook Lighthouse, the local area, and lighthouses in general was incredible. He answered every question with such detail and enthusiasm, and you could tell he genuinely loves sharing what he knows. Even after the tour had finished, he happily stayed to answer more questions and chat with everyone. We learned so much while laughing throughout. We had actually considered leaving Hook Lighthouse off our itinerary because it was about an hour's drive from where we were staying. We only decided to go because we were interested in seeing how a lighthouse works, and we're so glad we did. The maritime exhibits were fascinating, and the whole site is so well presented. I don't want to give away too much because discovering it for yourself is part of the experience, but the views are absolutely spectacular. Noel also made sure everyone had plenty of opportunities to enjoy the scenery and take some fantastic photos. We even got a lovely selfie with Noel afterwards! We honestly feel very lucky to have had him as our guide. He made the visit unforgettable, and I couldn't recommend both Hook Lighthouse and Noel more highly. If you're visiting Wexford, this is an absolute must.

Go, it's an absolute must to see Hook lighthouse

What a historic site this is, we had done the tour quite a few years back and had 2 students staying with us so we thought it would be nice for them to experience the gem that is Hook lighthouse. Our tour guide John was an absolute legend and the information and knowledge he has was amazing as he was just popping off names and history all as clear as day, the weather was amazing and the views were something we'll never forget. Even though we done it before I must admit it felt like we hadn't been before with all the history given and it's something I really enjoyed and to hear how much has happened there in the time of it's start up and to now was just something else. If anyone is having any doubts of whether to go or not, the drive out is well worth it, it's an amazing place of beauty and all the staff we met were absolutely brilliant and the whole set up is ran so well. A big thank you to all the staff and the work behind keeping such history alive has to be unbelievable.

Great Experience!

The tour inside the lighthouse was great. Our tour guide Lisa was extremely funny and had a great way with words telling us all about the lighthouse and it's history. Very much worth it!

Go!

Fascinating look into the operations, past and present, of this historic lighthouse. Our guide was particularly good with engaging the elementary-age children who were on the tour and he volunteered to take pictures a the top. We walked around the grounds and out to the point on the nearby field, too. So worth it!

Lighthouse Guided Tour

My husband and I had a fantastic time touring the lighthouse and learning the history of the building and surrounding area. Our tour guide, John, is an absolutely amazing story teller and the passion he has for his job is obvious. He also inspired us to visit the “Ros Tapestries” while we were in New Ross which was another incredible experience.

Interesting tour and amazing views from the top of lighthouse!

First of all eat at the cafe! Great seafood chowder and lovely views from sitting area. Very interesting tour with a fun, knowledgable guide. He was friendly, funny and included a lot of history on the lighthouse itself as well as other lighthouses around the world. He shared information about the local area and gave ample time to ask questions and answer them. Highly recommended. The view from the top was amazing! Even on a rainy cloudy day!
