Named this way because of a university professor of philosophy, who used to frequently take a walk on this path for reflective and meditative purposes. It is a long avenue located near Ginkakuji, surrounded by Sakura trees, which amplify the beauty of walking there in spring.

So called because it overlooks the southern part of the Hojo (abbot's great hall), considered a national treasure. The shape of the internal pond resembles the Japanese kanji "Kokoro", which means "mind" or "heart". Entrance Fee (not included) : About 600 JPY

Ginkaku-Ji Temple worth a visit and lovely gardens

Grandson of the Golden Temple shogun also wanted to honor himself...long story, but the temple was not finished in time for him to see it. And then it was named a UNESCO World Heritage site before it could be re-silvered, and now they can't touch it...so...it's brown. BUT the garden is lovely and the location is pretty and this is definitely worth a visit, and a reminder that planning how you'll be honored after you die always goes awry...

This was a very rainy day which made the gardens quieter greener and more beautiful. This was my favourite temple I think. The trees and ponds are gorgeous
