Itinerary
Visit the UNESCO-listed Rock Temple of Dambulla: five hill caves converted into a temple in the first century BC and filled with Buddha statues. Inspect the caves with their stunning wall and ceiling murals as your guide shares Dambulla's history.
Marvel at Sigiriya Rock, a granite outcrop rising from scrubland areas that transform into water gardens during the rainy season. Then, climb the metal steps to the rocktop: home to a ruined fifth-century fortress. View the frescoes en route and explore the relics on the summit, the remnants of a royal citadel built by King Kasyapa.
Take a visit to Sigiriya village. It’s not merely a walk only but an authentic encounter with the local village folk; experiencing their lifestyles, their culture and their hospitality. By authentic we mean it’s a true village scenario, not one set up as a tourist attraction. You will be warmly welcomed and provided a cup of Ceylon herbal tea with a piece of Jaggery. The main activities to do in this village are, ride in a bullock cart, boat ride, taste a traditional Sri Lankan lunch and have tuk tuk ride.

It was a long trip but so well worth the time and money. Sigiriya is spectacular! Also the rest of the attractions were well worth visiting.
It was a long and tiring day trip but its well worth it. Traditiinal village lunch was surprisingly tasty. Driver Amila was good and spoke English well. Highly recommended.
From the moment we were picked up by our tour guide Himantha for an early start and long drive to Sigiriya rock we were greeted with a smile giving us confidence that our trip was going to be safe and enjoyable considering the 6 hours+ on the roads. We had amazing views on the rock and a long slow climb to the top, well worth the effort with to take some photos that we can look back on in years to come. Our personal favourite was the local village tour, treated to a ride on a cart by a cow and taking the reins while being videoed by our local guide, a swamp trip followed with some interesting accessories, a neckless and hat made out of the water Lilly we then had an amazing local lunch and shown how to prepare the ingredients, it was so tasty, a great experience, I almost forgot my hat was on my head. We finished with the Dembulla cave temple, an amazing cave with huge Buddha statues and too many to count, there were many steps to encounter but the views were stunning and the Murals inside the cave along with the Buddha’s were impressive in this ancient sacred temple. The drive home was safe and Himantha was caring and considerate to our needs, we had some nice personal conversations and honestly speaking we had several tours with guides but Himantha raised the bar and was outstanding from start to finish, I only hope other couples and families are as fortunate as us to have the experience we had. WHAT A GREAT TRIP…..HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
It was an incredibly impressive and informative excursion. A great combination of temple complex, the Rock the UNESCO heritage and the wildlife park with elephants. If you want to experience a lot in one day I can only recommend this trip. The guide spoke very easy to understand English and also gave us a lot of information about the country Sri Lanka, among others. Thanks for the great day!!!
Thank you so much for the kind review. We are glad you enjoyed.
Brilliant experience and well worth it, but beware that there are hundreds of stairs to climb, both at Danbulla and especially at Sigriya. Our driver Sageeth was a star and took really good care of us. Village visit was a standout experience. A long, but great day out
Thank you so much for the kind review. We are glad you enjoyed.
A quality French guide who is there to pass on Sri Lankan culture. We recommend
Merci pour votre retour. Super d'entendre que vous avez eu une visite incroyable
Was an ok tour. Got to see great sights but there was no tour. Just a driver. The people on the safari tour was amazing though.
Hi Thanks for the feedback. This is a day tour and all the inclusions and details of the tour is already mentioned in the description. If you expected something more than what is mentioned, we would have happily arranged it, if communicated to us prior.
The whole tour was fantastic. The village part of the tour included a small cooking lesson where I learned how to make sambal. Sigiriya rock was breathtaking. If you can go during the beginning of the week it’s worth it because it’s not crowded.
Thank you so much for your review. Glad you enjoyed the tour.
