Short 2-Day Inca Trail Hike to Machu Picchu via the Sun Gate

The Inca trail is amazing and Machu Picchu is unbelievable but this tour company did some things wrong. 1) we were grouped with the wrong 'level' and with others who didn't speak English. The issue with this is we waited often 45 min for the rest to catch up which really really made the hike unnecessarily long. Not the other hikers' faults, they were slightly older and not as experienced but this tour company should have asked us about our hiking experience and grouped the levels accordingly. 2) our guide was very sweet but very poor English, and that is really not helpful when you are touring Machu. We wanted more history and explanation.. 3) B/c half of our group couldn't speak English and vice versa for Spanish, every explanation took twice as long, and was not complete 4) the entire 2nd day could have been condensed to a morning. We did the tour of Machu (great) early AM but then waited for 5 hours to catch a train that was then delayed , and then we were bussed back to Cusco, making it an unnecessarily long day. Just do the morning tour and call this a 1.5 day tour, which is really what it was, vs stretching it out a "2 day tour" just for the sake of it

We were a group of 10 hiking Machu Picchu. We went with tour guide Walter and Reynaldo, there were a few complications out of their hands originally but the company was excellent at working it out and the tour was able to go as planned which at one point it didn’t like it would be able to happen. Machu Picchu, as amazing as it is in itself was made even better with the guides we had. Both being able to explain the different places in the village extremely well. It was great to immerse ourselves in the culture. Thank you so much

It was beyond my expectations. Our guide Nilton was so knowledgeable in all things Inca and the health and wellbeing of his hikers. The food the was set up and offered during our hike was superior along with hotels and restaurants that were included. I would recommend this company to anyone one ask.

Our 2-day Inca Trail trek with Alpaca Expeditions was an unforgettable experience. Everything was exceptionally well organized from start to finish, allowing us to simply enjoy the journey. Our guides, Abraham and Sabi, were outstanding—knowledgeable, encouraging, and attentive throughout the hike. They took care of every detail and made sure everyone felt supported along the way. The freshly prepared hot lunches and dinner were absolutely delicious and exceeded our expectations, especially after a long day of hiking. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Alpaca Expeditions to anyone planning to hike the Inca Trail.

We had the best experience ever. The guide Nilton was the kindest, most patient, funniest, with the best stories and incredible knowledge of the Machu Picchu and Incas. He is definitely a big highlight of our travel and we well remember him make sure to recommend him to family and friends. Denise was also so great, super kind, patient, remembered everybody’s name and was always making sure no one was left behind, she’ll make a great guide. Also incredible work from the cook and porters, who are simply super humans. I am so grateful for them, and the food was absolutely delicious, made fresh on top of a mountain with huge quantities, diversity and quality. Hotels and restaurants choices were delicious and beautiful, way better than what I pictured. The organization was on point compared to other tours we did, that was a big plus. Everything is thought through.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I just finished the Inca Trail and it has been, without a doubt, one of the best experiences of my life. The landscape, the history, and the effort make reaching Machu Picchu something truly unforgettable. I want to especially thank our guides, Nil and Denis, who made the trek perfect from beginning to end. Their professionalism, knowledge of Inca culture and nature, and the passion with which they explained every corner of the trail made the difference. They were always attentive to the group, adapting to each person's pace and encouraging us in the toughest moments, especially during the climbs. I also want to highlight the incredible work of the team of porters and the cook. It is impressive how they manage to make everything work with such organization and, in addition, prepare delicious meals in the middle of the mountain. If you are thinking about doing the Inca Trail, do not hesitate. And if you are lucky enough to do it with Nil and Denis, you can be sure that you will be in the best hands. Thank you for turning a spectacular hike into an experience that I will remember forever.

Superb trekking and camping experience with our guide Rodrigo Guty, the chef Noime, and our porter Juan. The price is worth it, knowing all the costs associated with our pick-up and the fees for visiting the site and transportation.
