Shore Excursion From Colombo port to Ingiriya Tea Plantation & back for 2 People

Amazing guide who helped us see exactly what we wanted. Nalil was a brilliant driver who navigated the chaotic Columbo traffic with ease and good temper. We wanted to visit the tea factory and plantation, where we experienced how much hard work this must be for the workers there and how complicated the production system is. After this we wanted to visit an a small restaurant for authentic Sri Lankan food which Nalil helped us to do. It was a very educational and enjoyable excursion. Thank you Nalil.

We had a private 4-person half day tour to a tea plantation that was extraordinary for a couple of reasons: 1) we had a very good car and guide, 2) we went to an off-the-beaten-track tea plantation and factory that was NOT typical (no gift shop or restaurant, folks barely spoke English, etc.) and 3) we saw a great deal of Colombo along the way.

Only 2 people on the trip. Our guide waited patiently for 3 hours as we were delayed docking at the cruise terminal. Highly recommend. The tea plantation was so interesting and well worth the 90 minute drive. Could have skipped the gem factory!

We had a fantastic day booked this trip for for of us and had brand new van and wonderful driver Alhi. Took us to the tea factory about 1 1/2 hours where we did a tour which was great and had tea afterwards. He kindly took us to change some money on the way so we had some local currency for the tour. Then came back and did city tour which he allowed us to customise as we wanted a massage a brilliant day. Highly recommend this company they have an office at Port which is great.

Did this tour while on a cruise and the driver/ guide, Nadin, was waiting for us at the port. He spoke good English, was polite, the car was clean, and we enjoyed the tour. As the plantation was about an hour away, most of the time was spent travelling there and back. However, the actual time spent at the plantation, which included a factory tour, was very interesting and gave us the opportunity to have a cup of tea and purchase some of the produce.

Cruise ship trip booked by email and told $150 for two people.. Ripped off because you can book for much less on trip adviser. I was too late booking though to get that price. Tea plantation small. Took 80 min to get there. Supposed to go to rubber plantation but it was just a small area with a few trees and not very easy to access ( scrape past thorny branches. Then back to Colombo for city tour. Glad I didn’t do tuk tuk tour of town as it was busy and lots of diesel fumes. Got us off the boat for 5 hrs which was good and the journey was enjoyable when we into the countryside. Driver was very helpful

Everything was done to perfection. We were picked up at the cruise port on time by Kapila Withanage who looked after all our needs. Visit to the tea plantation was very interesting and after our visit Kapila took us to interesting places on the journey back. Nothing was to much bother for him. I would recommend this trip especially if your host is KW.

To be clear, the driver was a careful driver, friendly, thoughtful and knowledgeable, however the tour was not as described. It took some time to get to the tea factory that we were expected to pay extra for (just arrived on a cruise in a country with closed currency, so why this was not added to the tour price is a surprise to me). We decided to pass as we wanted to see the plantation, which was just one field with 2 lady pickers. That was it. Our driver took us to a nice tea villa to have a pot of tea (which I could use my credit card). The trip should be described differently to avoid disappointment. Again, no reflection on the driver, but the tour was underwhelming. To end on a positive we saw some lovely country-side.

An outstanding trip, we were really looked after by our guide and had a wonderful day. We would like to have tasted the tea but it didn’t affect our enjoyment of the tour.
