On the way up there are numerous lookouts where you can stare into the inky early morning light before sunrise as well as gaze down to the dark plains below. It’s all part of the vast Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and it’s only once the sun rises do you realise there’s desert-like sea of sand stretching as far as the eye can see around Mount Bromo. Once there it takes about half an hour to wander through lava fields and up a steep staircase to the crater rim. The rim is an awe-inspiring sight. You stand above a steaming volcanic crater with a short concrete wall the only barricade between you and the smoking darkness below – the veritable gates of hell, redolent with a sulphur vapours

SUNRISE AND VIEW POINT At the sunrise viewpoint, you will witness the breathtaking beauty of the sunrise along with a spectacular panoramic view of Mount Bromo from above. It is truly an unforgettable experience. There are several sunrise viewpoints around Mount Bromo, and on the day of your tour, we will choose the best one based on the weather and current conditions. We always aim to take you to a viewpoint that is less crowded, allowing you to enjoy the stunning scenery in a more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
SEA OF SAND Desert-like sea of sand stretching as far as the eye can see around Mont Bromo.
Grass area
CRATER - PURA LUHUR From the parking area, we will walk across the Sea of Sand to reach the stairs leading up to the crater. The walk takes about 30 minutes, depending on your pace. You can also rent a horse for part of the journey if you prefer not to walk. At the top, you will be able to see the active Bromo Crater and enjoy the dramatic volcanic landscape. Please stay behind the safety barriers, follow the marked paths, and avoid getting too close to the crater edge, as volcanic activity can change at any time.

I’ve made the booking from home and I must admit that everything from booking, arrangements, pickup and drop were very good organised and clearly communicated. The tour itself was great. As you are not the only person going up in a jeep, the location gets crowded. But somehow our guide/driver went through all traffic like a salmon. The driver was most helpful, kind and enthusiastic. The jeep was clean and nice. The ride quite bumpy, but rather due to the terrain, because the driver did all his best to ride through the beautiful but harsh environment. The experience itself was top, a must do when staying in Java. And with this organisation I had nothing to worry about!
