Self Guided E-Bike Tour among the Palladian Villas of Vicenza

Description
The unique and original E-Bike tour of the Palladian Villas explores the surroundings of Vicenza passing through 11 Villas, of which 7 are Unesco Palladian Heritage Sites. The experience includes the rental of a luxurious Palladian E-Bike extremely comfortable and performing (bag and padlocks included), a special navigation system and a traveling voice narration: the guiding voice will be the spirit of Andrea Palladio, who traces his story through the evolution of his villas (entrance fees excluded) and immersion in his landscapes. The network of Palladian Villa owners invites you to immerse yourself in the history and landscapes of the other half of our UNESCO World Heritage Site in an original, active and sustainable way. Deep in the Vicenza countryside, sumptuous residences follow one another as far as the eye can see in a widespread eco-museum, architectural forms in continuous evolution until the gemstone of the world-famous Palladian Villa, thanks to the genius of a modest and prodigious stonemason.

Extraordinary Palladian work commissioned by the great architect by the Caldogno counts (note: time to reach stage and stop)
Monumental and splendid, its attribution to Palladio is controversial, but certain is its belonging to that Golden Age of Vicenza which dotted the city and its countryside with architectural pearls recognized as a World Heritage Site (note: time to reach stage and stop) Accessible from the outside
Imposing eighteenth-century villa that testifies to the longevity of the Palladian legacy, the living and germinating force of the Italian Neoclassical (note: time to reach stage and stop).
Unmistakable Palladian original among the first works of the architect, also included in the UNESCO World Heritage (note: time to reach stage and stop). Accessible from the outside
Another pearl between Giulio Romano and Palladio (note: time to reach stage and stop). Accessible from the outside
Even the two Villas of Quinto, the sixteenth-century Villa Thiene and the eighteenth-century Villa Tacchi, dialogue in the suburban landscape, giving us a precious testimony of how Palladio's legacy has been able to survive strongly in the Vicenza countryside, continuing over the centuries to contribute in painting the face of the territory (note: time to reach stage and stop). A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994, the villa owned by the Curti family is a fine example of the eternity of the works of Palladian production, inspiration and legacy. Villa Gazzotti is a Venetian villa located in Vicenza in the Bertesina area designed by Andrea Palladio between 1542 and 1543. This was a great adventure and a way for us to see the beautiful, tranquil countryside around Vicenza without renting a car. I had never ridden an e-bike before, but I got the hang of it before long. Manuel is very passionate about Palladio and Palladianism and has designed this experience with incredible care, from the orientation to the website to the equipment to checking in by WhatsApp and sending osteria recommendations on the route. There was a website failure on our appointed day, but fortunately we could take up his offer to come another day, when all was well again. Since this is not covered in the orientation or audioguide, just be aware that this tour will take you through many kinds of terrain: Vicenza streets and busy outer roads, small towns, gravel paths, levees, cycle tracks behind "private property" signs, and even one path that cross a creek (very shallow, but slippery-looking, so we played it safe and removed our shoes and walked). Also, if like me you're a regular cyclist who likes things just so, you might want to bring certain things: e.g. gloves and a mirror (not provided), a Camelback or bottle sling (no bottle holder on the bike), etc. We did really appreciate the panniers and helmets!
Palladian E-Bike Rental was one of the highlights of our time in Vicenza. The tours took us through beautiful countryside, charming villages, farmland, and vineyard areas surrounding the city. Every route felt scenic, peaceful, and very safe. We loved our first trip so much that we immediately reserved a second day. Over the two days we traveled more than 100 kilometers, which sounds intimidating at first, but the pedal-assist bikes made the rides comfortable and enjoyable even over long distances. Another huge advantage was that the routes were almost entirely on dedicated bike paths or very bike-friendly roads, allowing us to relax and enjoy the scenery rather than worry about traffic. If you want to experience the beauty of the Vicenza area in a unique and memorable way, I highly recommend Palladian E-Bike Rental.
The sites were breathtaking and easily toured on the assisted bikes. The owner is so kind and helpful. We loved the experience and will definitely do this again. Highly recommend!
Fantastically organized bike ride along the villas of Palladio. The bike is perfect and the planner on your mobile, connected to the battery in a holder on the handlebar, works very well. A guided test drive will teach you how it works. Count on almost a full day because at any villa you can lose time by listening to an explanation.
A fantastic and unforgettable experience. The organization of the easy to follow itinerary and the excellent quality e-Bikes make everything light and free to live without worries. Advice for all those who want to breathe a little Vicenza. Thank you Manuel...👍🏽
Ivan, hai scritto parole che ci piacciono molto, perchè raccontano proprio la nostra idea di un'esperienza turistica sostenibile di qualità. Un grande abbraccio e spero a presto :)
The experience of the Palladian villa tour with the E-bike was truly unique and wonderful. We were able to admire the architectural beauties and wonders of the Vicenza countryside, accompanied by the "voice of Palladio", which makes you relive the sixteenth-century atmosphere. Excellent organization and efficient service. Manuel is really a great person, he makes you feel at home, helpful and very prepared. An experience to do at least once! Everything really super! Highly recommended!!!!
Agnese, ma le persone fantastiche siete voi! Siete stupendi, vi auguro tutto il meglio, e spero veramente di rivedervi e offrirvi un calice :)
Palladian Routes is an excellent company. The self-guided e-bike tour was very well organized. It took us about five hours of riding to complete the circuit. The e-bikes are in very good condition and are the optimal way to visit many of Palladio's villas in the Vicenza area. I doubt it would be fun to do the same visits by car. The route is navigated using one's own phone, which is connected securely to the bike and gets charging power from the bike's battery. The route has been programmed into Google Maps so there is little chance of straying from the route by accident. The operator of Palladian Routes, Manuel, is very congenial and speaks excellent English.
Dan, you’re absolutely right. The Palladian Villas are best experienced this way — by car you miss the kind of life our noblemen chose five centuries ago, and the essential relationship between architecture and nature that defines the Villa’s "place". And congratulations on your enviable fitness — you’re definitely one of our strongest riders!
This tour is a fantastic way to explore Vicenza and the surrounding suburbs while peddling to various Palladio landmarks! The audio guide with pre-mapped routes did a good job of connecting the architecture with their historical times. The highlight was visiting Villa La Rotonda. The high-quality, well-equipped e-bikes enabled us to see all the sights and towns from a different perspective and without the hassles of parking. We highly recommend this tour!
Thank you very much, so happy that you enjoyed so much the tour. See you next time! :)
The self-guided e-bike tour to the Palladian villas of Vicenza was a unique experience. Manuel explained everything perfectly at the beginning of the tour and the instruction in navigation on his own phone was very professional, including a small test lap. I found it very pleasant to ride the bike ride to the 11 Palladio villas at my own pace and breaks. From the given 55 kilometers I ended up with 62 kilometers and I was on the road from 9:30 to 17:00. With the e-bike, however, no problem. Navigation on the phone worked very well and I reached all the milestones without any problems. Overall, it was a sporting and cultural day, where, of course, in my case the good weather contributed a bit. I can only recommend Manuel's self-guided e-bike tour to anyone.
I had a great time riding around Vicenza and seeing the Palladian villas. The electric bike was very easy to use and made the 60-kilometer trip quite enjoyable and easy. That the countryside is relatively flat helped. There was variety to the routes selected on the circuit, from a trail atop a levee to country roads and gravel bike routes. Finally, i want to commend Manuel: he is attentive and passionate about sharing Vicenza's history and environment with visitors. He was very kind and accommodating. If you are a fan of Renaissance architecture in general and Andrea Palladio in particular Vicenza is a delight.
Vicenza is truely a delight, a little hidden gem to discover. As in this case, eventually at the natural pace of a Palladian E-Bike, one of the best ways to reach those places between nature and architecture that are the Palladian Villas. Thank you for your recommendation our friend of us! :)
