On this self-guided walking tour through the city‘s green quarters, we‘ll peel back its diverse layers of history as we ascend from Ponte Alle Grazie (one of the many bridges crossing the river Arno) to Basilica di San Miniato. This Florence tour takes you through the historical and hip San Niccolò neighborhood, where you‘ll find plenty of bars and trattorias to whet your appetite. We‘ll then venture uphill through the picturesque rose garden, Giardino delle Roseto, to Piazzale Michelangelo, which boasts breathtaking panoramic city views. You‘ll walk across cobblestone lanes, through medieval doors like Porta San Miniato, and pass beautiful churches including Chiesa di San Niccolò Oltrarno and Chiesa di San Salvatore al Monte. You‘ll see beautiful artwork, hear about the artists and find out where you can purchase some for yourself, like at Clet Studio.

As we start our walking tour, we'll pass by Ponte alle Grazie, one of the many bridges crossing the Arno.
We'll walk through Piazza de' Mozzi, a charming square in the San Niccolò neighborhood, but please note that entry to specific buildings or attractions in the square is not included in this tour.
You'll catch a glimpse of the Stefano Bardini Museum, known for its collection of artworks from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, but please remember that admission to the museum is not included in this tour.
Passing by CLET Studio, you may spot unusual artworks, but please be advised that entry to the studio or gallery is not included in this walking tour.
As we stroll through the San Niccolò neighbourhood, you'll see Chiesa di San Niccolò Oltrarno, a historic church. Please note that entry to the church may require separate arrangements, as it is not included in this tour.
We'll also pass by the San Niccolò Church, adding to the historic charm of the neighbourhood. However, entry to the church itself is not included in this tour.
Walking through the medieval streets, you'll come across Porta San Miniato, one of Florence's ancient gates. Please note that entry to the gate is not included in this tour.
Passing through the picturesque rose garden, Giardino delle Rose, you'll discover unique artworks. However, please be aware that entry to the garden may require separate arrangements, as it is not included in this tour.

This was probably one of the best ways to see medieval Florence at your own pace. Loved the way we could hop on and off the tour at leisure.
I booked the tour expecting the usual walk throughout Florence, but I was literally captured by the experience. I recommend it to anyone who is willing to know more about this amazing city and is interested in discovering new sites.
