At this stop, we will dive into birria, a rich, slow-cooked stew from Jalisco. Made with tender, marinated meat and a blend of chilies and spices, birria is celebrated for its bold, savory flavors. Served with fresh onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime, this dish is a true taste of Mexican tradition.
At this stop, we’ll explore a vibrant local market, where you’ll get a firsthand look at the fresh ingredients that form the heart of Mexican cuisine. Stroll through colorful stalls overflowing with a variety of vegetables, exotic fruits, and a stunning array of dried and fresh chilies. You’ll also have the chance to witness the traditional process of tortilla making, as locals press and cook fresh tortillas right before your eyes—an essential part of every Mexican meal!
At this stop, we will enjoy sopes topped with carnitas, a delicious duo that highlights traditional Mexican street food. Sopes are thick, hand-pressed corn cakes with a slight crisp, layered with refried beans, fresh lettuce, and crumbled cheese. Topping it all off are juicy, tender carnitas—slow-cooked, flavorful pork that melts in your mouth. Each bite offers a perfect blend of textures and rich, authentic flavors!
At this stop, we’ll indulge in one of Mexico’s most iconic dishes—tacos. At this stop, we’ll indulge in paletas, a refreshing Mexican ice pop made from fresh fruit, creamy milk, or even chocolate. With a variety of flavors to choose from, including mango, strawberry, and coconut, each bite offers a cool, sweet treat that’s perfect for finishing off your tour with a burst of flavor!

I’ve gone on a few food tours but this was by far the best one. This is a must do activity. The food is phenomenal. The conversations were great. Learning about the history of the food, culture, places gave it so much more context. It’s really a history of Baja. Arlene was so amazing. She is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the food and history. I truly loved this activity. 10/10.

What a lovely way to eat some delicious local food in San Jose Del Cabo. Adrian was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Plenty of walking but worth it for the great bites and the small group exploration!

Our guide, Adrian, was great. He was very knowledgeable and interesting. The food was excellent and it was a fun way to see Mexico outside of the tourist zones. It was a bit of a hike - more than I anticipated, so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues.

The food and guide were good, but the walk to get from place to place was along very narrow, uneven and dangerous sidewalks (if you could call them that!) , and mostly uphill. It was extremely hot, and I was having a hard time in the heat, so our guide did get us an uber to a place quite far away which would have been a difficult walk. . We were the only couple on the tour, and I’m sure it would have been more enjoyable to travel with a larger group. We thought we would also see the nicer part of San Jose del Cabo to visit some of the restaurants we had heard about, but we were in the original, local part of town- very poor, the entire time. Had to step over an older man asleep on the sidewalk. My husband gave his bottle of water to an old lady with no legs- trying to sell trinkets . We were given only one bottle of water each. We had to buy our second bottle. Never offered the opportunity to purchase a cold margarita. Also, had to cross a very busy major street with no cross walk to get to our last eating place. Disappointed in this tour.
Arlin was our tour guide and she was amazing! So warm and friendly. The tour itself was great, we got to try many dishes and I was so full afterwards. It is walking but it’s not too much walking. Thank you Arlin!!

Adrian was great. Rather than making all the arrangements ahead of time he listened to our dietary preferences and then based our visits on what would fit best. It was great to get away from the tourist hot spots and eat where the locals go. It was a very hot and humid day so we appreciated that some of the stops had air conditioning and he even had us duck inside some air conditioned stores to break up some of the longer walking segments. My husband is a slow walker with balance issues, and Adrian was very helpful about pointing out obstacles in the sidewalk ahead of time and we didn’t feel rushed to keep up with a predetermined pace. The tour ended up being about 3.5 hours but it didn’t feel that long at all. Everything was delicious and we left full and happy.
