Fantastic experience. We went with the family and was hands-down the highlight of our trip. All the teachers were super welcoming and kind. They taught us how to dye textiles and then we visited a local dojo to participate in a samurai class with katanas. I would recommend this to any visitor in Tokyo!
The entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. The staff very friendly and helpful. We were treated to tea while we waited. Highly recommend!! Support small business in Tokyo... it was worth every bit
The guides at the traditional cloth dyeing shop and the teachers at the dojo took great care to explain cultural significance as well as the technical aspects during the tour. We left with a greater understanding of samurai culture.
If you’re into cultural activities, then this tour is one to go for. I joined the Samurai Experience, where our group experienced dyeing our own bandanas using the Edo Indigo Dyeing technique I love that we got to take home the bandanas we designed or dyed. We were greeted by Samurai Masters for the sword training. We got to hold a real samurai sword- well, we used fake ones during the training, which was more fun and safe.
It was a great experience where I got to learn about Edo dyeing and also got to hold a real katana and learn how to master it! If you are into an authentic experience this is for you!
Was truly magnificent how deep samurai and dyeing culture is. Best thing of the tour is that you get to hold a real life katana and you get to bring your own traditional painting back home. Would rate it as 10/10
The trip was amazing, the indigo dyeing and samurai workshop. I especially liked the indigo dyeing; it was interesting! The teachers were really nice and helpful
