Th interactive displays kpt the kids entertained, while the historical information was interesting for the adults. It was well organized, fun and a great way to learn about Japan's ninja traditions.
Our tour eneded up being one of our favorite things to do in Tokyo. Despite its tiny size, the museum is filled with authentic samurai armor, swords, and artifacts. We had the opportunity to carefully handle a sword and try on some imitation helmets.
The exhibits were well presented, and the guide made the story behind the armor and swords really engaging. Even if you have no prior understanding of Japanese history, you could easily follow along. I really liked seeing the authentic relics up close, it was a amazing experience that deepened our admiration for the samurai era.
Experience was so much fun as we dressed in samurai outfits and posed for amazing photographs The tour guide and the education that we received on emperors, samurais and ninjas was amazing
I really enjoyed my visit to the museum, with so many displays of Japanese Samurai armour on display you can get the history of how it developed on a different path to European Armour. The tour is in English and gives a full account of how Japanese society was influenced by the Samurai and later where and how the Ninja fit in. You are allowed to handle some of the weapons feeling the different weight of the swords and just how they were used. Nearing the end of your tour you are give an opportunity to throw the Ninja Shuriken (throwing stars) although the ones we throw are plastic, we were reminded they could still do a lot of damage, we were also allowed to dress up in Samurai and Ninja costumes for photograph. The tour a good mix of History and play highly recommended particularly if you are visiting Tokyo with a young family mixing the history with the play..
I did the experience solo and actually found it easier than expected to join in. Some parts are obviously more for entertainment than deep history, but that kind of the point.
I was worried this might be a total tourist trap but it was actually a highlight of our afternoon. The venue feels very authentic and private since they limit the number of people inside. The instructors were safe, professional, and very energetic.
