This typical Dalinian scenery will make you feel like you are stuck inside one of his paintings. We conclude with a visit to Dali´s house at the "Portlligat Bay", Dali & Gala´s own private paradise. Itinerary
8.30 AM Start of the tour and leaving Barcelona city. Relax, sit back and enjoy the ride. Hotel pickups will take place between 8:00 and 8:30 (30min approx.) and we'll drive about 90min to get to our first destination
10AM approx. Our first stop is Figueres , Dali's birthplace, housing the world's largest and most significant collection of his works in the iconic Dali Theatre-Museum. This is, most likely, unlike any museum you have ever been to! It's a trip , a living hallucination, we step into Dali's surreal world of imagination. This masterpiece, "the biggest surrealist monument ever made" , was fully designed and decorated by the man himself and offers you a walk through his life. You'll get in-depth commentary from your expert guide in the morning, and after a brief introduction inside the museum you're free to explore, wonder, and get lost in Dalí’s imagination at your own pace. We want to leave room for personal interpretation, something that the artist gave a lot of importance to.
On our way out we cross this famous part of the city full of landmarks and beautiful architecture
We spend the morning in this small and lovely city close to the French border. It has a long history that goes all the way back to the Middle Ages, when the town was founded in the 9th C. There are several squares, lovely little streets with shops, a beautiful ´Rambla´ promenade apart from several homages to Dali in the old city which can all be explored in your own free time. In total we spend about 2,5 hours here, including the time for your visit to the museum.
During our drive we will cross this mountainous protected National Park which surrounds the town of Cadaqués. It will provide us with spectacular views over the area of the Empordà, the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava and we will probably see the Pyrenees mountains in the distance. Pay close attention to the scenery and you will find many elements that fueled his imagination...
1.30PM And yes, we have arrived to Cadaqués! This is, in our opinion here at Joyous Tours, the jewel of the Costa Brava. It´s such a stunning and well preserved old fisherman´s village with white-washed houses, very Mediterranean. You get plenty of free time to enjoy a Mediterranean lunch with some of the freshest fish and seafood and to do some exploring in the village
3.30PM After a delightful lunch we take the scenic route through the protected National Park of Cap de Creus, to show you a bit more of this unique landscape, as we make our way to the stunning Portlligat Bay. This was the most inspirational place in the whole world for Dalí and the place where most of his famous paintings were made. This is where we'll find his house and studio, Dali and Gala´s own private little paradise. We´ll be guided through the house, we walk into his studio and later we can spend free time in the garden as well. Then we head back to BCN. During our drive back to the city you can digest all these new impressions, relive this unique experience in our minds or simply grab a quick snooze. *Sometimes in case of LAST MINUTE bookings during the busy season (April-Sept.) the Dali House may be sold out. In this case we won´t be able to do the 30-minute visit inside the house but we still visit the bay, we do explanations from outside and we cover the garden area
7PM approx. We arrive to Barcelona. We bring you back to your accommodations and we conclude a memorable day. Hopefully it made you shine like Dalí´s mustache!!

Wonderful day immersed in Dali and the region he grew up in. Jordi was very knowledgeable about Dali’s life and works and went into detail gradually on the journey to Figueres and carried on. There were times when I was left to wander the museum and take in by myself, which was welcome, but not before he pointed out things to look for. Lunch in Cadaqués was a welcome break to enjoy the village and scenery before exploring the house in a bay just over the hill. It’s a long day with the drive back but well worth it.
Jordi from Joyous Tours provided a totally immersive experience. His knowledge of the life and times of Salvador Dali is impressive! He used our travel time to the various locations (Figueres museum, Cadaques, and Port Lligat house) to enlighten us, giving us an understanding of the important influences informing Dali's art and public lifestyle, all without being overbearing. Jordi is the best kind of host/guide.
Amazing day! I went to a exclusive guided tour Jordi bespoke the tour to suit me, from Figueres to Dalí house, Cadaques and Girona. 100% worth it. Jordi has an amazing knowledge of the area and the facts. Amazing day
Thank you Thais!! It was a beautiful day and it was a pleasure to spend it with you. I want to thank you too for sharing your stories and for the nice conversations. Greetings from Barcelona! J.
We were really looking forward to the Dali museum and house, and Jordi made it special. He has extensive knowledge of Dali and the people related to him as well as the history of Spain. We peppered him with questions about a wide range of topics and he thoughtfully answered every single one, including information that helped us better understand what we had experienced at the museum. In addition, he went above and beyond when he took us to look for a stolen iPhone that was pinging about a mile away from our Airbnb. Unfortunately, we didn’t retrieve the phone but we were impressed that he tried to help us. In addition, Jordi is a very good driver and we felt safe and comfortable. We had considered renting a car and driving ourselves but we all agreed that it was a much better experience with someone there to guide us.
Thank you David so much for your friendly feedback. I hope you guys are well and hopefully we meet again! Best wishes and greetings from Barcelona! Jordi
It is an intimate, beautiful labyrinth. It was Dalí and Gala's private sanctuary—a white, eccentric home with egg roof and the studio where he painted. Essential for fans.
Thank you for choosing Joyous Tours for your Dali trip! We´re so glad to see that you enjoyed it. If you enjoy, we´re happy :-). That´s the whole purpose. All the best, Jordi
Jordi Groeneveld was the best guide we could have imagined. So much interesting information that he offered, and so responsive to all of our questions. - and so much work on his part. I will highly recommend his service to anyone I know who is planning to visit Barcelona.
I was a little worried when I booked this excursion, as there were no other reviews, and it was a full-day and relatively pricey trip. This trip far exceeded our expectations and was worth every penny. Jordi is a very knowledgeable guide with a fun sense of humor; he has been a guide for some time, and is now starting his own business (Joyous Tours). He arrived at our hotel right on time and drove us in a private car to the Dali Museum, which is quite something. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but Dali himself created the place, and it is well worth a visit. After a couple of hours there, we drove to the very charming seaside town of Cadaques. We took a short walk to see the beautiful old Gothic church and had lunch on our own at a casual seaside place. We then drove a short distance to Dali’s home, which was absolutely the highlight of the trip — set in a beautiful location and where the artist lived with Gala for years. We are so glad that we saw both the Museum and Dali’s home together — it gave us a new appreciation for this artist. In addition to providing us with extensive information about Dali and his history, Jordi provided us with information about Catalonia and Barcelona and answered all of our questions. This was SO much better than a trip in a large bus with many other tourists. We wholeheartedly recommend any tour organized by Joyous, and we wish Jordi much success!
Dear Rebecca, I just read your review, thank you so much for these kind words and thorough description of your experience! For me the biggest joy is to see how much you have enjoyed this tour. You both have been very friendly and it was a pleasure spending time with you. All the Best!! Jordi
