Safari-Tour Villages and vineyard, 1/2 day afternoon

In mid May me and my familay spent about a week in Alsace. The second day of our stay we went for a tour with Ana & Eric. There´s only one thing I regret. We should have done the tour already on our first day. You know how it is when you are picking mushrooms in the forest. You can't find a single chantarelle, you are totally blind for the environment. But than a skilled mushroom picker tells you where to look and suddenly you find that the whole forest is full of chantarelles. The first thing I asked A&E was where all the storks were. Just wait and see, you will see loads of storks today, they told me. And this is how it was in all aspects. After spending the afternoon with Alsace Safari we learned a lot about winery, building techniques and decorations, alsatian history and, of course, stork nests. In that way the tour very much enriched our further stay in Colmar. I strongly recommend a tour with Alsace Safari.

We had a great afternoon with Anna, a very friendly guide with whom we were able to talk very easily. The tour was very well organized and we learned a lot. Finally, we will remember the generosity and good humor of the winegrower who made us taste very good Alsace wines. We highly recommend!

What a great day spent with our tour guide Anna. Our small group of four were treated to an extensive review of the small quaint villages of Turkheim and Eguisheim, followed by several tastings at Weck Vineyard. The pace of the tour was not rushed and we had plenty of time to enjoy the local towns of Alsace.

We very much enjoyed the Safari 1/2 day wine tour. Our guide, Anna, was incredibly knowledgeable, explaining everything we saw and pointed out so much that an ordinary visitor would overlook. She eagerly answered questions and was enthusiastic doing so. Anna took us to Weck winery, owned and operated by the same family for 13 generations. The owner’s knowledge of wine and its production, along with his final product, was simply amazing. We had the best afternoon, and spending time with Anna while learning about the region she loves was the highlight of our time in the Alsace region. We are so glad we chose her tour.

This was an exceptional experience that included much learning about Alsace and its customs within a very friendly and warm atmosphere. Our tour guide Ana was extraordinarily knowledgeable of all things Alsace including historic and daily life aspects; she provided very interesting details during our visit to the impressive castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg. Our wine tasting in a small family-owned winery (Domaine Jacques Iltis at Saint-Hippolyte) was educational and entertaining; Ana worked side-by-side with Clara (the original owner’s granddaughter) providing detailed information about the Iltis operation and the Alsatian wine sector in general. Even with a little rain in the late afternoon, Ana showed us the charming village of Kaysersberg with its beautiful retable at the church and other sights. In summary, we enjoyed the afternoon with Ana immensely and highly recommend her services.

Anna is an excellent tour guide! She effortlessly switches between the different languages of each of her clients to answer everyone's questions. She generously shared her extensive historic and cultural knowledge of the area and how the wines play a significant role in this region. She tirelessly brought our attention to small details that we would never have known about otherwise whether it was about the castle's construction, destruction and reconstruction efforts or about how the extra carvings on the exterior of a house demonstrated the wealth of the owner. We were very pleasantly surprised with our wine tasting experience. The winemaker's grand-daughter Klara generously let us taste the full gamma of wines made from the different grapes of the region. Her explanations about the growing and harvesting process gave us a fuller sense of how each grape brings out different flavors which in turn helps each wine be paired to different uses: in a meal, as an aperitif or to toast a special occasion, as with the Cremant. The small-group format of this tour (vs a big tour bus) was much appreciated and we enjoyed spending the afternoon with our fellow Danish and Swiss passengers and our wonderful guide. Thank you!

Excellent experience, mix of history, colors, flavors and culture of a dream region. Unmissable tasting and picturesque villages, the Castle is a return to the past. Thank you Safari Alsace.

Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids ages 7, 10, and 13) enjoyed a wonderful tour through the Alsace wine country with our tour guide Eric. Eric was filling in for our scheduled tour guide Anna, who was sick, and we appreciated their commitment to keeping our scheduled tour instead of cancelling. The kids especially enjoyed the Haut Koenigsbourg castle - it was better than advertised and Eric shared details that we wouldn't have gotten with a self-guided tour. We opted to visit Riquewihr, which was spectacular and a nice complement to Eguisheim which we'd visited earlier in the week, and then finished with a wine tasting for the adults. I highly recommend this tour for visitors wanting to get outside Colmar and get a sense of the countryside and the history of the region.
