Would have loved a better guide who talked more and gave more history and information. Also lunch was a soggy sandwich only and it wasn’t very good. We threw about half of it away and ate some crackers we brought. Then like 45 minutes later in the van he gave us chips and a cookie. Would have been nice to have that with lunch and not while driving a winding road. Personally eating like that makes me car sick. So just brought back with us. Also texting us the day before with a specific dollar amount for gratitudes was just tacky.
Our guide Mark was outstanding! He is knowledgeable about the plants, the area, and tried to engage with each guest!
You will make several stops so bathroom breaks are available. There will be food stands that promote the Hawaiian culture. You will want to take lots of pictures so have plenty of charge on your devices. Its okay to get wet you'll have time to dry. It was better to leave the roads to the professionals so you can enjoy the ride. Water shoes were better than sandals.
The sights and scenery were wonderful, and guide, Jason was exceptional as a native of Maui. He even provided info after the trip where we could save considerable funds on food and drink vs our resort prices. My critique is that it was a quite crowded bus, and it ended up being a very long 13 hour day, since the guide/driver had to drive about 3 + hours picking up and dropping off passengers before and after the tour at 5 hotels spread across the island. Not very efficient.
Dell our tour guide was so much fun and educational with Maui history and Hana history. My daughter and I were in safe hands with his expertise driving and we highly recommend his tour.
Our great tour guide with a lot of knowledge of Maui. The stops were beautiful and worth seeing. Take the opportunity to view Hana.
Dell was a great driver. So much knowledge about Hana and the rest of Hawaii. Knows the road like the back of his hand. We talked to some other hotel guest that drove themselves in a rental car and they had some tense moments. My wife was nervous but after the trip she was so glad we saw this beautiful part of Maui. Waterfalls, Beautiful views, Black sand Beach. On the way back we stopped and watched surfers and wind surfers at a public beach that also had like 50 Sea turtles just laying on the beach. Dell made it it a great day. #TEAMDELL
Our tour started with guide rudely telling us we are not in correct pick up spot (I double checked emails and never told to meet at back of hotel as he stated). Guide knowledgeable about island but started repeating information as tour went on. Guide never answered questions asked so group decided he must not hear well. Wanted his information told nothing more. Lastly van was in rough shape and air did not work. Very hot in van that made trip very uncomfortable to say the least. Would not recommend.
11 plus hours mainly sitting in the bus.’ The tour driver was not the friendly type. A former teacher who lectured us for hours on end, and was very anti American mainlanders. Most of the sites were simply drive by and I believe we only had 4 stops. This was the first bad experience we had in a week. Definitely not worth the time and cost.
This tour is a great way to see Hana. We appreciated the expert driving through the winding roads and hidden stops, especially the waterfalls and hour at the black sand beach state park. Our tour guide, Dell, was excellent. The only heads up I can give is to expect to be picked up first (6:00 am) and dropped off last if you’re staying in Ka’anapali / Lahaina, which makes it a long day. The tour description also advertises seeing Jaws, a famous surf spot. We learned on the tour you actually can’t see Jaws easily, so we just saw the entrance to the beach on this tour.
