Honestly, I booked this tour to stay on the river rafts. But once we got to the museum, I found the history fascinating. My favorite historial site - Hell Fire pass. The Jungle River Raft Hotel was everything I hoped for - unique, unpretensous and calm. Loved the hammock on the back porch that was in deep shade and the way the raft gently rocked when boats went by. And a shout out to the Mon people that work at the hotel, especially Sam, my guide. I felt well cared for. A fabulous experience! Wish I could have stayed longer.
Thanks for the lovely review! Hell Fire Pass really does leave a mark and that hammock on the back porch with the rafts rocking gently... hard to beat. We'll make sure Sam hears your kind words. Hope to see you back in Thailand or in Asia soon! Asian Trails Thailand
Everything was well organised, and the guide even rang my hotel and told them to organise a breakfast box for me as early morning start. You are kept moving through the activities and always fed and watered and it was just very easy as everything was taken care of. The hotel was amazing, make sure you take your bathers so you can jump in to the river and ride the current. Also, no electricity in the room which is a nice change, but I would recommend taking a headlamp, as they give you a torch but the headlamp so much easier. The hotel staff, the Mon people are so warm and friendly and were great hosts. I actually enjoyed the train journey a lot more than I thought I was going to. I did one night and was happy with that, but seemed most people stayed for two. I think both would be fine, and don't hesitate if you just want to do one. I came back to Bangkok happy.
Hi Ceri, Thank you for this lovely review! Great to hear the guide thought ahead about the breakfast box, and that everything flowed so smoothly. The Mon people are wonderful hosts and the train ride is always a pleasant surprise. Good tip on the headlamp too! Hope to see you back in Asia soon. The Asian Trails Thailand Team
The experience is a perfect mix of culture, history, action and time to rewind on the floating Hotel.
Hi Janina, So glad you enjoyed it! That floating lodge really is something else as a place to disconnect for a couple of days. Hope to see you back in Thailand or Asia soon! Asian Trails Thailand
The starting tour was very interesting and informative, especially with the tour guide within the coach. After we got transferred to a new host/tour guide, Pat. He is such a energetic, funny person. I would recommend to go as that is just a part of the experience. In addition the rafts were such a nice change of pace from Bangkok.
Thank you for this lovely review! Pat is indeed one of a kind !! his energy and humor make every group feel right at home. Floating on the River Kwai, away from the city buzz that's the kind of escape that stays with you. Hope to see you on another adventure soon in Thailand and in Asia! Asian Trails Team
A wonderful 2 days little weekend escape from Singapore, with some culture and history deep dive but especially with a wonderful gate away in the jungle and a warm welcome from the Mon village people. Thank you all for the insights in your culture and for the wonderful relaxing weekend!
Thank you so much for your beautiful words, we’re happy you enjoyed your jungle escape with us. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Thailand or our other destination in Asia soon. Asian Trails Thailand
Please note that there is no electricity in the room. It's very dark in the room. The available lights give low light. Location and decor of the resort is beautiful. Also swimming in the river is a great experience. We are 2 days guided by Pad, who is in the resort jack of all trades. Besides being a guide, he is also a Moon dancer and waitressed in the restaurant. He is extremely enthusiastic and knows a lot about Thai and Moon culture. He himself lives in the adjacent Moon village.
Thank you for your review and for sharing your experience. As mentioned in the tour details prior to booking, the overnight stay at River Kwai follows a unique eco-floating concept without electricity in the rooms. That said, the rooms are fully equipped with comfortable beds, mosquito nets, a private bathroom and traditional oil lamps that create a warm and atmospheric setting in the evening. The simplicity is intentional and part of the off-the-grid jungle experience. We’re very happy to hear you enjoyed the stunning surroundings, swimming in the river, and especially your time with Pad. He truly loves sharing the richness of Thai and Mon culture, and your kind words will mean a lot to him. Asian Trails Team
My partner and I booked the two days/one night options as part of 2 weeks in Thailand and we are so glad we did! Everything about this experience was absolutely phenomenal. Collection from our hotel was simple, communication from the tour operator via WhatsApp was consistent and helpful and the trip itself was just the right amount of activity and relaxation. There were 6 of us on the tour and it was lovely getting to know each other over delicious meals during the trip. We felt like enough time was given for each part of the tour for us to take something valuable away from it. Transport from and back to Bangkok was seamless and was with a variety of modes - from comfortable air conditioned minibus to the museum and River Kwai bridge, to the long boat that took us to our amazing jungle raft. The accommodation was utterly unique (be prepared for no electricity or warm shower). The room was simply beautiful, clean and comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming staff, particularly Pat, who was enthusiastic, helpful and passionate about sharing so much information about the area, the Mon people and their culture and experiences through traditional entertainment in the evening and visiting the village the next morning. We thoroughly recommend this to anyone who wants to see a very cultural and beautiful part of Thailand.

This has got to be the most incredible experience with local people of any place I’ve ever had, the mon people are amazing and their culture should be preserved and shared because it is wonderful. I was so sad to learn the history of the POW in Thailand and Myanmar and learning about the hellfire pass history. Wow what a tragedy. This story will forever live on. I loved staying at the resort and living like the people. This was unforgettable everyone should experience it 💖

Fantastic tour, with adequate time at each of the stops to take in the atmosphere of a terrible time on history. Highlight was absolutely staying in the floating hotel and floating down the river surrounded by nature. Cultural show and tour of the local village was well presented by Bligh, our fabulous tour guide. feeding Wendy the elephant was an added experience. Would totally recommend this tour.
Thank you so much for this lovely review Sandra! We're really happy the Jungle Rafts experience lived up to expectations. There's something quite magical about waking up on the river, isn't there? And Bligh is wonderful: bringing both the history and the local culture to life really makes the tour special. Sounds like Wendy made quite an impression too! Those moments with the elephants always stay with people. Thanks for recommending us, and who knows, maybe we'll see you back in Thailand one day. The Asian Trails Team
Don’t hesitate - Ana ing trip. Fabulous views and the best guide. The best views and the museum was moving and informative. The night on Fliating Raft was fantastic. Our guide Pad was the best
