Rio Celeste river waterfall, hike and hot springs tour from San Jose, Costa Rica

Description
Enjoy a splendid day in a truly rain forest environment exploring the natural wonders of Rio Celeste (Celeste River) at Bajos del Toro Amarillo within the Cloud Forest Parks of Costa Rica. We will pick you up from your hotel for a 2 hour drive to Rio Celeste bajos del toro enjoying the natural, mountainous and forested landscape along the way. Once we arrive this moderate 2 and a half hour tour will bring us through trails that encounter waterfalls, bridges, wildlife and plenty of flora and fauna of the area. Rio Celeste in Bajos del Toro has a particular coloration, due to an visual effect caused by the dispersion of sunlight and great concentration of aluminum silicates that the water has. We will also enjoy a hidden gem that combines health and relaxation in crystal clear water naturally heated by the heart of the Volcano.

100% recommend, if you have the chance to go, GO!! Gerald was so friendly, and accommodating throughout the entire adventure. We were able to identify many species of animals along the hike at tenorio volcano national park. Gerald was able to provide us with so much information about the different species of wildlife found along the journey which was amazing! After a phenomenal lunch (Casado) we set out on our tubing adventure on Rio Celeste. Also amazing! The scenery was to die for and the tubing was so much fun! We were even able to spot a sloth in the trees along the tour which Gerald stopped and helped us experience. This was a 10/10 hands down! Incredible experience which I would suggest to anyone considering!!!
Hi Robertt, I'm Katherine from the tour operator. We're so glad you enjoyed this incredible experience, and it was a pleasure having you as a client.
Superb service, especially in Puntarenas. In San Jose, the agent came to my hotel to pick up the rental. Car was clean when I picked it up. A little more expensive but quoted price was total price. I will definitely use them again.
Did not attend this activity. It was swapped for something else. Images attached display what we did instead… Saddened at the fact that I didn’t get to experience what I booked for.
Overall we enjoyed our time during this excursion. The day before our trip the tour company reached out to us to let us know that due to rain in the area, Rio fe Celeste will be a chocolate color. So we did not go to the Arenal Volcano area. However they were able to take us another park with two waterfalls next to each other. Our tour started when the tour guide, Mr. Sunshine, picked us up at the hotel. Mr. Sunshine was friendly and made the experience very enjoyable. We stopped at a local coffee shop for coffee and great views. We then made our way to our first stop, La Paz Waterfall. On the way to the waterfall you make some pit stops for photos. The walk to the waterfall is very light. I would recommend bringing water shoes as once you arrive to the waterfall it can be slippery. The water was cold but definitely worth a dip. After the waterfall we stopped at the Hot Springs which is basically two Jacuzzis and a pool. This is where you will also have a delicious lunch. after your dip, the tour guide will drop you off at the pick up location.
We didn't actually go to Río Celeste since it had rained a lot in the area, so the river wouldn't have had the beautiful blue colour anyway. Besides, leaving at 8am in San José is really late for a tour that far and we would have ended up spending more time in the bus than at the river. If you want to go to Río Celeste better book a tour that leaves at 5am. That said, our driver, Don Jorge, was absolutely great and adapted the tour for us, so we went to Bajos del Toro instead where we visited some beautiful waterfalls and hot springs which we had almost to ourselves. So the experience was amazing, but it wasn't the Río Celeste tour we had booked, and I wouldn't recommend this particular package as it is sold.
