Itinerary
Ta Phin is a small village, inhabited by both Red Dao and Hmong people. However, most of them are Red Dao people, come here you will admire the characteristics of their culture, life and take a dip in the hundred-year-old herbal baths of the Red Dao people. Having both ethnic groups living in the village will allow you to easily see the differences in culture, customs, and identity of the two peoples.
Ta Phin Cave is located in Ta Phin village, Sapa district. The cave has a height of 5m and a width of 3m. Starting the journey to explore the cave, you will have to walk about 30m in the dark, bumpy then you will encounter a large cave. From here, you will follow the directions of the cave, there are places just for one person to go. You will admire the sharp stalactites with lots of extremely unique shapes. Ta Phin Cave was recognized as a National Monument - Attractions in 2017 by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
The ancient Ta Phin Monastery, located at the foot of the mountain, was built in 1942. It used to be a place of practice for 12 ascetic nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Catholic Church of Christian Conversion. In 1945, the delegation left Hanoi and the monastery was abandoned to the present day. In general, the monastery consists of a five-room house with the main direction facing west, three stories high, which is the accommodation and activities of the nuns. All now there is no roof, leaving only the walls of stone covered with moss over the years, and sometimes among those cold, gray stones, suddenly there is a sprouting bud, causing people we must widen our eyes in surprise.

Most epic hike ever! 5 Stars for May, who is a brilliant guide! Will never forget the day! Happy that she showed us and told us about her culture. It is a quite challenging hike, but you have always a helping hand. There are also some black hmong women, who want to sell stuff, but I think it is ok to support the local industry. The herbal bath is perfect for the end of the tour. Highly recommended!
Thank you so much for your feedback Anna. All the best wishes to you both
Amazing the herbal bath at the end was so good. The guide was really knowledgeable and friendly and the lunch was really good
Thank you so much for your feedback, I am very happy that you enjoyed this trek with our local guide. All the best wishes to you and have wonderful time in Vietnam
Very rich tour to get to know the local villages, it's really worth it. We learned a lot and the guide who accompanied us was great. In addition to being local and knowing everything about Sapa, he has excellent English.
Dear SIlva, I hope you are very well. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feelings about the trip. I am very happy that you enjoyed the hiking to Fansipan with our team. Wishing you all all the best: healthy, happiness and success in life. Hope to see you again in the future. Best regards, Gio Ly (Sapa Trekking Hiking Tours)
Booking was confirmed but on the day no guide showed up and still no communication from the operator, very disappointing.
Trekking through the mountains was an amazing experience. Seeing rice fields, bamboo Forrest’s and cornfields close up was wonderful and the views all day were spectacular. May, our guide was very knowledgeable about local traditions and was very knowledgeable about local plants and their uses in cooking, medicine and clothing. The trek was challenging as we went on a very hot day but May provided easier options and rests along the way. The bath at the end was very appreciative. A great way to see and understand the area.
Dear Sian, I hope you are doing well. Many thanks for coming and choosing us for your Sapa Trekking Tours. I hope that you and your partner have enjoyed this trekking with our lovely guide May. Hope you have a great trip in Sapa and Vietnam. Hope to see you again in the future. Wishing you all the best. Best regards, Gio Ly (Sapa Trekking Hiking Tours Team)
We were met by Chacha at our hotel lobby. From there we headed north, through villages, rice paddies, corn and bamboo fields. Had a substantial and very yum lunch then trekked a small distance further to the Red Dao herbal baths. Chacha was an amazing guide, telling us about her family, the local villages and farming life in the region. All up, we trekked about 12km. Chacha was very accommodating, asking if we preferred the easy or harder paths. We had a great day and we definitely recommend this trek. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen and hats!!!
Thanks so much for your review! Hope you all the best
Very good experience. The trek with May, from the Red Dao community, was great. We walked the rice fields to the village of Ta phin off the beaten track, we met very few tourists. May always asks us whether we prefer to take a difficult path or not, and she adapts to our pace. She also answers all our questions about the region and its community. At the end, you can take a herbal bath typical of the Red Dao community, pure happiness...You can book without hesitation.
Dear Hermann, many thanks for your compliment, it is so nice. I am very happy that you enjoyed the Red Dao village trek and Herbal bath with May. Hope to see you in the future!
