Description

What's unique about this experience is that by learning the differences between the various ramen (noodles, broth, etc.) across Japan, you can also use it as a ramen guide when traveling around Japan. Japanese people are particular about everything and turn it into a unique Japanese food culture. While making ramen and gyoza together, you can learn about the diversity of the culture. This time, we will make miso ramen with broth made from "kelp" and "chicken" or "scallops," which are the basic ingredients of Japanese broth. For vegans, we will make miso ramen with broth made from "kelp" and "vegetables." In addition, the Japanese-style house will allow various travel groups, from groups of adults to families with children, to enjoy themselves in a relaxed atmosphere.

The location was easy to...

The location was easy to find and the hosts were very friendly with good English. The introduction was informative, cooking with PowerPoint was innovative. We started off making gyoza which were delicious. The chef took the lead in making the ramen but as there was a lot of pre-preparation that was ok as the food was great. Overall it was a great experience, finished off with same sake.

Operator response

Thank you for the highly positive review and for providing such a detailed and thoughtful explanation. It sounds like such a wonderful experience—it makes me want to try it myself! Please do try making them yourself once you get home. And if you discover any new, delicious fillings for gyoza, be sure to let me know.

Very nice experience with nice teacher and practice. The location is very nice and easy to arrive with the local metro and the welcome is nice. The food we prepared was also delicious so it is very recommended

Goyza and Ramen making class

This was such a fun and informative class! The goyzas and ramen were delicious!! It was so much fun not only making the dishes, but also learning the history of how they came to be. And the recipes were emailed to us, so that we can go home and make the dishes ourselves!! Highly recommend this adventure!

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay. I hope this trip to Japan will be a cherished memory for you. As I mentioned in the mini-workshop, the Japanese love of innovation is what has led to the creation of such delicious ramen. I encourage you to try your hand at making your own unique gyoza and ramen.

Delicious way to spend a morning.

This was a fun cooking class. We were provide with an interesting history about the origins of both ramen and gyoza. The chef was well prepared for the class, was enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge with us. The end product was delicious.

Operator response

I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you make one at home, please send me a photo. However, as I asked during the workshop, please only send one photo of your best-looking creation. Many guests send dozens of photos, which I appreciate, but I'm having trouble deciding which ones to throw away.

Experience the Techniques

Fun time, full of practical hands-on experience. Gyoza folds, flipping entire pan contents for presentation and saki tasting were pleasant surprises.

Operator response

I’m glad you enjoyed the experience. I hope it becomes a wonderful memory of your trip to Japan.

Yummy

We had a nice time. One of our participants had a food allergy and they worked with us to accommodate. They gave us the recipes and I look forward to making them at home.

Operator response

Thank you for your lovely comment. Please give it a try when you get home. As I mentioned in the mini-workshop, adapting recipes to suit your own taste is the Japanese way.

The hosts were lovely and gave us information into the history of the food. I have done cooking classes on my travel and this was assembling of the prepared food they had made. Not a cooking experience..

Operator response

Thank you for your review of the workshop. I try to provide tips so that you can make gyoza and ramen at home, but perhaps you felt there wasn’t enough hands-on work involved in making the ramen. I’ll consider offering separate workshops for each.

Great Class!

Great class. We were two couples. The chef and his hostess/translator were very good. Learned a lot and we made a very tasty Miso Ramen and assorted gyoza. I liked that they took pictures and emailed them to us after class, so that we didn't interrupt the lesson or have to re-sanitize ourselves after handing our phones/cameras. I didn't like Ramen that much before, but I really liked the flavor of what we made and ate it all!

Operator response

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed feedback. I’m absolutely delighted to hear that, even though you weren’t much of a ramen fan before, this experience has turned you into one. Please do try making ramen and gyoza at home and share them with your family and friends. As I mentioned during the class, food always tastes even better when shared with others.

A great way to start your trip in Japan

A wonderful cooking class. Our tutor was friendly, helpful, and entertaining. Would definitely recommend!

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments and high ratings! What makes me happiest is that you found it "funny." I'm constantly thinking about how to make the lessons enjoyable and fun for everyone. Oh, that's a lie. I'm just diligently practicing every day, with the sole goal of being able to make delicious ramen and dumplings when I get home. If you do make them at home, please send me a photo of just one dish. Don't send dozens of photos!
