Itinerary
Meet Chef Enrique and get ready for a full immersion into the culture and of course the flavor behind the Mexican cuisine.
Next, visit a local tortilla factory to purchase the dough that you'll use to roll out fresh tortillas.
Armed with fresh ingredients, head over to the master chef’s house to start your class. The main courses change daily (see Itinerary below), but expect to learn how to make salsa de molcajete (made in a mortar with fresh or dried chiles) and dessert. Then try your hand at anything from chiles rellenos and tamales to tacos and fish ceviche. Perhaps cook mole poblano and learn about the more than 27 ingredients, in addition to chocolate, that compose this delicious sauce. Top it off with a Margarita or a good Tequila! The best part of this class is that you get to eat what you cook. Sit down and enjoy of a well-earned feast and good conversation with the chef. All this in an authentic and warm: "Mi Casa tu Casa" atmosphere. At the end of the cooking class you can take a taxi or Uber from the house of Chef Enrique to your respective resort.

Enrique, Eri, and Carolina were fabulous hosts! Wonderful experience for all!!
We enjoyed the best time - from learning about Mexican cuisine, to how to find the best peppers on the market, to making delicious salsas, guacamole, ceviche, shrimp and more. Enrique and his family, and their beautiful home, were an absolute delight. We learned so much. It was the highlight of our vacation

Enrique was very informative about Mexican cuisine and culture. His wife and sister in law warmly welcomed us to their home for the cooking class. The food was delicious. It was well worth our time and money. We learned a lot.
Muchas gracias for the wonderful review! We had a blast cooking with you and hope to see you back at our table on your next trip. Cheers!
My friend and I did the Market/Cookin Vallarta tour with Chef Enrique and it was fabulous! I didn't want to go on a cooking tour, but went to be a good host to my guest who really wanted to go....I am SO glad I did! This is not to be missed. We shopped at the market and learned about lots of ingredients (including tips on buying the freshest fish, the hottest chiles, etc.), and then went to Chef's home to cook. There were 8 of us, which was the perfect size. We made 6 salsas, birria with adobo sauce, squash blossom flower soup and homemade corn tortillas. The tortilla-making lesson was absolutely incredible, taught by Chef Enrique's wife. Take this tour! You won't be disappointed! I'm going to do it again next time in Vallarta.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful and detailed review of your time with Cookin’ Vallarta. For a guest who was initially hesitant to take a cooking tour, your high praise is incredibly rewarding for our team. We truly believe that an authentic culinary experience is about the people and the culture, which is why Chef Enrique and his wife love opening up their home and sharing their family kitchen with groups of the perfect size. We are delighted that you found the market lessons valuable and that you enjoyed making regional specialties like birria and squash blossom soup. We appreciate your support and look forward to hosting you again on your next visit to Puerto Vallarta!

We had a wonderful experience with Enrique! Our group was very engaged and a pleasure to be around. Enrique's tour of the market was a great opportunity to learn about the local cuisine and how it relates to the local culture as well. And of course, the class itself was superb with impeccable instructions and masterful cooking. We would love to come back again someday.

This is a great way to meet new people and to learn about local food and the preparation thereof in a small group. Our chef was marvelous as were the two women who helped him. Good company, good food, and good drinks. I can't wait to try some of the recipes on my own!
