The Shahi Darwaza Gate at Fatehpur Sikri served as a royal entrance for the emperor and his court. Its imposing structure and detailed carvings reflect the grandeur of Mughal power and prestige.
The Turkish Sultana’s House, built in an Indo-Turkish style, is adorned with elegant arches and fine decorative details. It served as the residence of the Sultan’s consort, reflecting grace and royal charm.
The Panch Mahal at Fatehpur Sikri is a five-story, open-pillared pavilion designed for leisure and royal women’s use. Its airy structure offers panoramic views and reflects Mughal elegance.
The Buland Darwaza, built by Akbar in 1601, is a monumental gateway celebrating his victory over Gujarat. Standing 54 meters high, it is one of the grandest examples of Mughal architecture.
The Khazana, or Treasury, consists of three rooms and was likely used to store imperial gold, silver, and secret documents, though it was wrongly called Ankh Michauli. Its thick rubble masonry walls contain hidden coffers and deep recesses, suggesting secure storage. Distinctive features include corbel-supported struts with serpentine scrolls emerging from monster jaws, inspired by Jain temple motifs of Western India.
The Caravan Sarai near Hiran Minar in Fatehpur Sikri served as a resting place for traveling merchants and their caravans. This spacious inn highlights the city’s role as a thriving trade and cultural hub.
The Fort Wall of Fatehpur Sikri stretches for nearly 6 kilometers, enclosing the magnificent Mughal city. Built with red sandstone, it provided both defense and a majestic boundary to Akbar’s capital.
The Diwan-i-Aam at Fatehpur Sikri was the hall of public audience where Akbar addressed the grievances of his people. Its spacious courtyard and pillared design reflect openness and imperial authority.
Hathi Pol, or Elephant Gate, served as a grand entrance to Fatehpur Sikri, built wide and strong enough for royal elephants to pass. Its imposing structure symbolizes power, strength, and imperial grandeur.
The Hiran Minar at Fatehpur Sikri is a tall tower built by Akbar in memory of his favorite elephant. Its unique design and purpose make it a remarkable symbol of Mughal affection for animals.
This rectangular complex with long arcaded porches is often thought to be stables, though its location beside Jodha Bai’s Palace makes this doubtful.
Birbal Bhavan, near Jodha Bai’s Palace, is a finely built residence showcasing elegant carvings and symmetrical design. Believed to house Akbar’s trusted minister Birbal, it reflects Mughal artistry and charm.
Tomb of Sheikh Salim Chisti Beautiful Tomb made with White Marble, Precious Gems & Stones etc.
The Jama Masjid at Fatehpur Sikri is one of the largest mosques in India, built by Akbar in 1571. Its grand design and intricate Persian-inspired motifs make it a masterpiece of Mughal architecture.
Jodha Bai’s Palace at Fatehpur Sikri blends Rajput and Mughal styles, with spacious courtyards and richly carved motifs. Built for Akbar’s queen, it reflects both royal grandeur and cultural harmony.
The Diwan-i-Khas at Fatehpur Sikri is famed for its central intricately carved pillar with radiating stone bridges, symbolizing Akbar’s vision of unity. This grand hall was used for private audiences and discussions on religion and philosophy.
The Anup Talao is a stunning ornamental pool at Fatehpur Sikri, surrounded by beautiful pavilions. It was used for musical performances and royal gatherings, adding grandeur to Akbar’s court.
The Khwabgah, or “House of Dreams,” in Fatehpur Sikri was Emperor Akbar’s private chamber for rest and reflection. Its richly decorated interiors reflect Mughal artistry and the emperor’s refined taste.
Explore one of the world’s deepest and largest stepwells, built over 1,000 years ago. Marvel at its stunning symmetrical steps and intricate design that reflect ancient Indian engineering.

Salman showed up on time to pick us up from our hotel in Agra, drove us to Fatehpur Sikri where we met our guide, who was knowledgable (and encouraged us to shop). We went to the tourist trap stop on the way to Chand Baori - food is pricey for what it is, but is fine. The guide at Chand Baori was great and also showed us a nearby temple (and encouraged us to shop). Leaving Agra at 10:30, we were in Jaipur around 20:00, but we move somewhat slowly and had a late lunch at the stop. Having the guides helped keep us on schedule to be able to see so much in one day. Salman drove well, even through an unseasonable rain storm. We weren't interested in shopping, so just told people their work was beautiful and declined (hopefully politely) to get anything. I advise using these types of services for transfers between cities. For the rideshare apps, even if you book well in advance, they don't look for drivers until an hour or so before pickup. Maybe just a fluke, but this worked seamlessly, while a planned rideshare intercity trip a week later spent a long time unfulfilled.
Amir is a great driver who made our trip from Agra to Jaipur very enjoyable and pleasant. He adopted the trip to our needs and stopped at good and price worthy restaurants for breakfast and lunch. We also had stops at very interesting historical places. He always gave us the time we needed for each stop. We would gladly let Amir drive us again.
Our driver arrived to pick us up on time and got us safely to Jaipur. The car itself could have been in better condition, however it was air conditioned and clean. The whole day flowed smoothly with two guides ready to meet us at the two stops. Both good guides and interesting places. Beware hard sell of souvenirs at Fatehpur Sikri.
Everything was fine! We had a wonderful transfer with two very interesting visits. Both guides and the driver Kishor Sharma, were very friendly. Thank you!
Great experience. Picked up on time. The car was comfortable. The driver was safe and took us to our two spots without any issue. Had the guide meet us and show us around. Never had to exchange or pay for anything else. Would highly recommend!
Comfortable ride with a great driver and the tour guides at Fatepur Sikri & Chand Baori were very friendly and knowledgeable.

The trip was amazing and I’d highly recommend. Our assigned guide, Dinesh, at Fatehpur Sikri, was very informative and very helpful. We are satisfied with the appropriate photos taken as well. Same at Step Well, which we visited too, this place is much easier to understand with a guide. We reached Jaipur safely Everything was according to plan.

The drive and visits were perfectly good. However, the pick up in the morning was an hour late with little communication during the time we stood outside our accommodation waiting, never quite sure whether we would get to Jaipur for our next hotel, or whether we were being scammed.
Thank you for writing about The drive and visits went perfectly well. The 60-minute delay occurred due to an unexpected political rally on the road, which I had already explained to you. I remained in continuous communication throughout to ensure everything stayed on track. Founder Neelam India Saying Namaste Trips
The driver did not speak English. He has difficulties with finding directions. Anyway he drives very well.
Thank you for your Feedbacks, we have started working on it and never repeats
Driver turned up on time and drove us expertly and safely all the way to Jaipur . With stops on the way including a lunch stop ( own expense ). Both stops were interesting with knowledgeable guides ( tip: wear proper footwear so you can navigate both sites well). And mind the goats at stepwell
