Pickup from Chennai Your driver and guide will pick you up from your hotel or residence in Chennai in a comfortable air-conditioned car. Note: The tour is expected to begin between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM (approximately).
Drive to Kanchipuram Relax and enjoy the journey as you pass through the countryside on your way to Kanchipuram, known as the “City of Thousand Temples”.
Kamakshi Amman Temple Visit one of the most important temples dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi. The temple is known for its peaceful atmosphere, detailed carvings, and traditional Dravidian architecture.
Varadharaja Perumal Temple Explore this famous temple devoted to Lord Vishnu. Walk through its grand halls, see the impressive stone pillars, and feel the spiritual aura of this important pilgrimage site.
Ekambareswarar Temple A grand temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, known for its massive gopuram (tower) and ancient mango tree believed to grant wishes. Discover its rich history and detailed stone work. It is one of the five elemental Shiva temples, representing the earth element. Weaving Center Visit (Optional) If time allows, visit a local weaving center where traditional Kanchipuram silk sarees are made by hand. You’ll get a chance to see how the colorful and rich textiles come to life.
Drive to Mahabalipuram Continue your journey with a scenic drive towards the coastal town of Mahabalipuram, passing through villages and green fields.
Shore Temple This temple stands by the sea and was built in the 8th century. It is made of stone and shows the brilliance of ancient Pallava architecture. The temple offers a stunning view of the ocean.
Pancha Rathas (Five Chariots) Explore five impressive stone structures, each carved from a single rock. These represent the five Pandava brothers from the Mahabharata. Each has a unique design and artistic style.
Arjuna’s Penance & Krishna’s Butterball See a large rock carving that tells stories from Indian mythology. It is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Nearby, look at a huge round rock, famously known as Krishna’s Butterball, which rests mysteriously on a slope.

Knowledgeable guide, it is quite a long trip but we learned a lot on the southern indian history and the architectural features of the different denomination and dynasties. A day well spent out of Chennai!

Great tour it was worth it. We visited 2 cities in a new vehicle and shiva was a great guide. Patient and friendly. The places are nice. A hat is recommended for the sun.
