Itinerary
Following convenient hotel pickup in Ho Chi Minh City, travel with your guide to the Cu Chi tunnels. An immense network of subterranean passageways, the Cu Chi tunnels played an important role for military campaigns during the Vietnam War. Before entering the tunnels themselves, watch a documentary about their construction. Then begin exploring the underground routes, listening to stories about the operations that took place there from your expert guide.
After you've navigated the historic tunnels, return to present-day Vietnam with a trip to My Tho, where you board a boat and set off on the Mekong River Delta. The delta is a biological treasure trove with over 1,000 animal species prospering in the area. As you cruise, your guide explains how life in the region revolves around the river. Pass through rich orchards and coconut groves whose abundant trees are fed by the Mekong's waters, and pause for the chance to sample lush, seasonal produce and freshly made coconut candy. In the evening, return to shore and get chauffeured back to your hotel.

Mr Ty, the tour guide, rushed us through the tour of the tunnels and their exhibits to the point where we almost ran, only to end up waiting at the optional shooting range while two of our group took part. It would have been good to have the option to go at our own pace and just meet up at the end. The tour guide had his script and stuck to it, any questions were ignored or dismissed. He liked to talk about drinking whiskey and made some inappropriate remarks that were inappropriate given the range of ages in the group. We spent an hour looking at the tunnels and 30 minutes for lunch. Two hours in the Mekong Delta. As it was a 12 hour day, we spent the remaining 8.5 hours on the bus. Traffic on the way back was heavy, but the tour guide did not communicate this or the estimated time of arrival back. The bus driver was very good. I didn't like that we had to wait half an hour in the cafeteria at the end of the Mekong Delta while the tour guide smoked and asked us to write him a 5-star review on Tripadvisor. My suggestion is to either just visit the Cu Chi Tunnels or see if there is another company where the tour guide can fill the time on the bus with information about the actual sights and the region being crossed.
