Private Tour: Masterpieces of the Uffizi Gallery

Description
The Uffizi is one of the must-sees in Florence, the world-known art gallery. It is the home of two of the world's most famous paintings: Botticelli's Primavera and The Birth of Venus. I will help you to discover, understand and love the Uffizi's masterpieces. This tour concentrates on the most important items in the Galley. We start with its history and explore the development of Italian painting from the very beginning: Giotto, Cimabue and early pre-Renaissance painting. Then we pass through Masaccio, Botticelli and Filippo Lippi, underlining the connection between the artists. The High Renaissance is represented by works by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. We also examine their followers: Andrea del Sarto, Rosso Fiorentino, Bronzino and Pontormo. At the end of our itinerary we see Caravaggio, Rubens and Rembrandt. The Medici family collected these art works through generations, and we can say thanks to them at the end of he visit.

Itinerary
The Uffizi, built for the Grand Duke by Vasari in the XVI century, is one of the oldest and is counted as one of greatest museums in the world. It can boast of paintings by the exquisite Botticelli, Leonardo, creator of sfumato, Michelangelo, the creator of the "terza maniera” and Raphael, who died tragically young. Works by Caravaggio and Titian hang here and there is an important collection of Flemish, Dutch and French paintings. The gallery displays paintings from the Florentine and Sienese XII centuries, the Early and High Renaissance, Mannerism and Baroque. It also houses an important collection of ancient sculpture. The building and the Piazza themselves are themselves of prime importance, as wonderful examples of Mannerism. The Uffizi are still being enlarged and an increasing number of works are leaving the deposits and finding a permanent home here.

One of the highlights of our trip. Our tour guide Elisa was so knowledgeable and so much fun to be with! Greatly enjoyed this tour and definitely recommend.
Dear David, thank you for your review!
Irina was a terrific guide and really conveyed her passion and interest in the fabulous images she showed us but also had an extensive knowledge of the history and culture and the stories around the masterpieces that helped make them more accessible. She was hugely energetic.; our tour lasted 3 hours but never felt too long. There was as much energy and interest in the final room infant of the moving Rembrandt as when we first approached the gallery - itself the resplendent Vasari masterpiece. Irina managed the different interests and focus for each of us, Irina made connections between the artists and their patrons, the gallery and its place in Florentine history. It was as any visit to this wonderful gallery should be a highlight of our tour and we will treasure the memory. Thank you.
Thank you for your response! Once the pandemic is over, I look forward to seeing you in Florence again!
