Our guide and driver will meet you at Tallinn cruise port exit gate. The cruise port exit gate is located 300 meters/0.2 miles/ 8 minutes walking from the ship. Toompea is a charming area that is home to Toompea Castle; the medieval defensive towers Kiek in de Kök and Tall Hermann; two cathedrals: one dedicated to St. Mary and another to St. Alexander Nevsky; and two viewpoints offering nice views for picture taking. Enjoy the scenic stroll and the enthralling commentary. Then, we descend to the lower town, where your private tour continues with approx. 30-minute long visit away from the main sites. The tranquil ambience is the main attraction here, competing with the some great stories and insights. Next, we head towards the Town Hall Square that has been the hub of the city since the 13th century. Highlights along the route include the medieval town wall and old merchants’ houses, the Great Guild House, Church of the Holy Spirit, the Town Hall, St Catherines Passage and one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe. Feel free to poke your head into cafes, workshops and galleries as we pass by to take note for later pleasures. The tour ends at the Town Hall Square or nearby, depending on where you wish to spend the 1.5 hours of free time. Fantastic experience. Maarja was punctual, friendly, and willing to answer all of our questions (we had a lot) - everything from architecture, ancient history, to more recent history in the 80s/90s. Highly recommend.
Thank you so much for the lovely review, Dennis. I am thrilled to hear that I made the tour informative. I´d love to welcome you back again to more great locations and stories next time. Kind regards, Maarja Laiapea
One on the best tours ever! Our guide Li was outstanding, she is very knowledgeable and was a pleasure to tour with. She spoke excellent English. We were picked up at the cruise port and dropped back off. Highly recommend this tour.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback, Kim. Li is delighted to know you appreciated her knowledge and guiding style. If you ever find yourself back in Tallinn, we´d love to welcome you again. Kind regards, Maarja Laiapea
Maarja, our guide, was wonderful. We learned so much about the city and the history of Tallin. Communication was great and everything went smoothly from pick up, walking tour, and drop off. We enjoyed our day in Estonia, it was one of the highlights of our cruise.
Thank you for your kind words, Danielle. I am so glad you enjoyed the tour. Your interest made the tour a real treat for me! Kind regards, Maarja Laiapea
Our original tour guide was injured but she arranged an alternate, Li. She was a local of Tallinn, Estonia Old Town & eagerly shared her experiences & knowledge with us. We, a group of four seniors thoroughly enjoyed our time with her & we also met her family which was one of many highlights. We have had good luck with Viator bookings & this tour was top notch.
It was the best day tour you could ask for. We were picked up promptly by Juri and Maarja. Coming in on a cruise ship leaves you very little time but the tour was thought out and planned perfectly. Maarja made the day very special and such a weatlh of knowledge. We will be back for a longer stay hopefully soon.
Nice tour of Tallinn. Maarja, shared her wealth of knowledge about Tallinn and Estonia and the history of both. Great alternative to ship provided excursion.
One of the best tours we have ever taken. What a pleasure to spend time with someone so knowledgeable and passionate about the country. We learned a lot and really valued the personal perspective. Highly recommended
Dear Geraldine, thank you for taking the time to review the tour. It was my pleasure to help you to explore Tallinn Old Town. I enjoyed your company very much indeed, while walking the streets and having a conversation over a cup of coffee. I'd be honored to see you again in the future! Kind regards, Maarja
Our guide, Maarja, was perfect. She was so knowledgeable about the history, very engaging and most accommodating. Her English was excellent and easily understood. She guided us around the crowds to the interesting sites & gave excellent lunch and shop recommendations based on our interests. This tour is the best way to see Estonia - we highly recommend it!
Hi Marilyn! Thank you so much for your kind words, and thank you for being such a great audience! I really appreciated your interest in Tallinn and Estonia. Hope we can all meet again in the future! Kind regards, Maarja
Exploring Tallinn’s medieval old town was magical! The tour took us through winding cobblestone streets, past ancient towers, and lovely cafes. A fantastic experience with a knowledgeable, friendly guide.
Maarja and Juri were very knowledgable about Tallin and Estonian history. Both are Estonian natives and lived through Estonia's restored independece. They took great care in arranging our tour since it included transfers from the boat dock to the city crnter.
