In March 2022, we booked 2 private tours with Lunfarda: Private Recoleta + Retiro Tour (Martin) and the Human rights/Dictatorship (Victoria). Both were absolutely awesome . The guides were impressively knowledgeable and engaging. They clearly have in-depth backgrounds in the history of Argentina and Buenos Aires, and were able to communicate in excellent English to our group. We especially loved our discussions with them and their personal perspectives. Walking tours are an excellent way to learn about a city and its history and culture--especially one as interesting as BA.
A tour of Av Alvear from Callao to Plaza Carlos Pellegrini and continue to Plaza San Martín in Retiro is a taste of the European influence of the 20's on the architecture of the Palacetes of the wealthy families of the time
You cannot go wrong with Lunfarda. My family and I had an amazing experience with Loli, one of the tour guides. She was extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, enthusiastic and such a great storyteller. She asked us exactly what we wanted out of our tour and completely made our day. I stumbled across Mariana, the owner of Lunfarda, by chance. We were on a tour with another horrible guide and I happened to overhear Mariana when she was giving her own private tour. I got her card and emailed her immediately — she was extremely prompt in her responses and gave us wonderful restaurant recommendations. If you’re in Buenos Aires you must book a tour with Lunfarda! They will make sure you get the most out of this wonderful city. I couldn’t be more grateful to Mariana and Loli for making our trip so unique and memorable.
Let me start with this: we got so very lucky to get Loli! She's beyond knowledgeable about so much: history, architecture, politics, and more. Even further, she's so nice and pleasant, and speaks perfect English. I'm not overstating when I say they we really were so lucky to spend a few hours with her. She taught us a lot as she has much to share. And, the passion for what she's doing is there, so that's icing on the cake.
Outstanding experience. The guide was very passionate about her city, with a deep knowledge of its history, architecture, culture, and a lot of very interesting facts and anecdotes about it. Recoleta Cemetery is amazing, and strolling it with a superb guide turns it even more fascinating. Our guide explanations about Evita, the political significance of the corpse (which was robbed and buried with another name in Italy, before being recovered and buried in Recoleta), and other famous characters in the Cemetery were really enlightening. Organization of the tour was excellent. Highly recommended!!!
