Pick up from your hotel in Amsterdam or Haarlem. We’ll drive through the scenic countryside towards the tulip garden.
Enjoy 2,600 different varieties of tulips, along with many daffodils and other beautiful spring flowers, in this hidden gem.
A visit to the tulip fields, where you can step inside and take stunning pictures.
Visit a family-run cheese farm to learn how artisanal Dutch cheese is made. Enjoy a guided tour and Gouda cheese tasting.
We’ll visit the Museum Mill You can explore the mill from top to bottom. You’ll see how the mill works and how people used to live in mills.
A drive on the dikes through regained land of the Schermer passing Esther’s family windmill and idyllic small villages.
Enjoy a scenic drive along dikes and through reclaimed land, passing charming villages such as Graft and De Rijp, and continuing through the Beemster UNESCO World Heritage Site—a masterpiece of Dutch land reclamation.
The Beemster We’ll drive through the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Beemster with its regained land known as Polders. A system of roads, plots, farms, and canals was carefully planned across the polder after the Beemster Lake was drained. We’ll see the beautiful farmhouses and the green meadows.

This was an outstanding tour! Bianca was a great tour guide. Loved the tulips, they were so beautiful..The cheese farm was a great visit and we lived the windmill! Lunch was outstanding. Esther was just incredible!! We booked a full day "off the beaten path" with for tulips, windmills, and cheese during a planned trip to Amsterdam. Esther was prompt, professional, incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and a wonderful guide. We felt very lucky to experience everything without the pressure of hoards of other tourists. It was clear from the first stop the care and consideration Esther puts into her relationships with local artisans and farmers. It makes for a truly unique and special experience. (She was also great answering all the questions from my 10 yo!) Truly cannot recommend Esther and Windmill Girl Tours highly enough!! (Afterall, she grew up inside a real windmill!!)

We spent time communicating with Esther about the things most important to us. She listened and offered options and advice. Communication was spot on, transportation excellent and a day that not only met our expectations but exceeded them. She has lived in the area all her life and brings local experience to the tour in addition to the regular tour information one expects. Had a wonderful day. Tulips were spectacular. The Dutch countryside is beautiful. Got a fascinating lesson about the history and working of the windmill system. And we bought more cheese than we can possibly eat! Bianca was a great guide. Highly recommend private tour for this type of day/outing.
