Omaha Beach was part of the invasion area assigned to the U.S. First Army, under Lieutenant General Omar Bradley. The assault sectors at Omaha were code-named (from west to east) Charlie, Dog (consisting of Green, White, and Red sections), Easy (Green and Red sections), and Fox (Green and Red sections). We will have one stop on Omaha Beach, at either Vierville, St Laurent or Colleville.
This World War II cemetery in France contains the graves of nearly 9400 war dead, and nearly 1600 names on the Walls of the Missing.
Pointe du Hoc is a high point between two of the five D-Day landing beaches, Utah and Omaha. It is renowned for the daring assault conducted on 6 June 1944 by the 2nd U.S. Ranger Battalion in an effort to neutralise the German artillery battery there.
Arromanches-les-Bains is right at the heart of the D-Day landings beaches in the Gold Beach sector. Today, the village is famous all over the world due to the remains of the famous artificial harbour, named after Winston Churchill, with the code name Mulberry A. On 6 June each year, the town celebrates the D-Day landings. Arromanches is also a seaside resort, nestling between two cliffs with an attractive sandy beach.

We had a group of 8 guests aged 30- 86 and had a private tour they customized to exactly what we wanted to see and picked us up right at our hotel and were wonderful about accommodating our older guests who couldn’t walk as easily. We had to make several last minute changes and Were always graciously accommodated . Both guides spoke perfect English and were so interesting and engaging without being overwhelming for our guests who knew less about WWII yet still answered all the questions of the more knowledgeable guests. I would love to come back and try some of the specialized Viking history tours they are working on creating. As a travel advisor I’d recommend them to my most discerning clients , especially with niche historic interests.
Amazing! We enjoyed a 5-day tour of the American sector of the DDay beaches plus the American and British cemeteries. We also toured Giverny, Caen, Bayeux, Honfleur, Mont St. Michel, St. Maire Eglise and Rouen along with a cheese factory and calvados tasting. The trip included pick up at CDG airport and return to a private apartment in Paris. We were out the door each morning at 9am and back by 6pm. Dominique, Yves and Anthony were such great guides. The visuals, historical research and the military strategies were such a bonus. We wanted more than just a sight seeing tour and Perambulations exceeded our expectations. Hope to return to take another tour with this team in Brittany or the Loire Valley.
4 of us took a full day tour with Anthony. He was fantastic!! He was able to answer every question we had regarding the history of D day/WWII and every other historical question we had as well. A very pleasant guy, we all enjoyed our time with him and would recommend him highly.
Dominique not only was knowledgeable about the whole Normandy campaign but also enlightened us with so many small facts that we would not normally learn about during the invasion of Normandy. We will certainly call Dominique on our subsequent visits to Normandy for the other tours she provides.
