After having been a professional guide for several years in the south of France, I am now an official guide for the city of Lyon. Driven by the same passion for 20 years, I am waiting for you in Lyon to help you discover the entire city, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. We will use the funicular to travel between Fourvière hill and Old Lyon. If you wish, we can also discover the Presqu'île district and the Croix Rousse district together. As an official guide, I will of course adapt to all your desires and will not fail to show you the gastronomic specialties of Lyon, as well as recommend its best restaurants. Your guide invites you to discover the most beautiful panorama of Lyon. You will explore the Notre Fourvière basilica with your private guide to understand everything about its origin and its sumptuous decorations.
Follow your guide to explore the site of the ancient Roman city of Lugdunum. The 2000 year old Roman theater is still used for all types of cultural events. If you wish, you can also visit the archaeological museum with your official guide.
Use the funicular and reach Vieux Lyon. Your guide takes you inside the cathedral and invites you to discover the secret passages of the medieval old town. Lyon is famous for its “traboules”. Secret streets hidden inside buildings. Leaving these passages, you will enter the most sumptuous palaces of the 16th century.

After reading so many 5 star reviews, I thought it’d be a great private tour experience. Boy was I wrong. Up until the start of the tour (8.30am), there were no communication or updates at all regarding the tour which I already sensed something was off as all tours even group guided tours always reach out via WhatsApp or messages to remind about the upcoming tours. Should have knew that was a red flag. Then on the actual day, at 8.30am (tour starts at 8.30am and we selected Pick Up from our hotel) -I messaged the tour operator via Viator, messaged them on WhatsApp, called their number on their website and the number on their WhatsApp. I even asked the hotel concierge to call them using a local number - NOTHING. No response and the WhatsApp messages were not delivered to their number until that evening. It felt like a total scam - we even checked with the hotel concierge that evening, no tour guide showed up at our hotel, it’s like they totally ghosted us. Needless to say, we are very disappointed and shocked how this tour operator can continue to scam people on Viator and still receive 5 star reviews. Thankfully, Viator refunded us, please DO NOT BOOK this tour. I can’t speak for other people but for us, it was totally a scam.
Hi, Your guide had an emergency and couldn't come. When human beings have emergencies sometimes they can't answer phone calls ! Since we refunded your tour we didn't scam you. We are very schocked by your consideration for human beings having troubles. Nevertheless we're sorry you couldn't get your experience with us. Farewell.
We had a wonderful tour of Vieux Lyon and Fourviere with Romain. He was a perfect guide for our small group of six people—friendly and knowledgeable about the local history, architecture, food, and restaurants. Romain picked up our group at our Airbnb in Presqu’ile and we walked over to the Old City, exploring the fascinating architecture and traboules, took the funicular up to the basilica and Roman ruins, and then walked back down to the Old City. Throughout the tour Romain was happy to answer all of our questions and take us to the places that we wished to go. We had a great day with him as our guide. Highly recommended.

This tour was a great way to learn about the history of Lyon and see the major sights. Our guide Romain was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Lyon’s long and interesting history. After the tour we felt more acquainted with the lay out of the city making it easier to decided what we wanted to do with the rest of our time here.

Fantastic morning. Romain was great with the kids. Really saw the difference of personalized experience vs seeing some of the giant river cruise tours who were in town the same day. Was very flexible and took us to some great spots with solid recommendations for other places to see.

We highly recommend this tour with Romain. We took the tour the day we arrived in Lyon to get an overview of the city so that we can explore on our own the next few days. Romain was extremely knowledgeable about the city as well as historical events which shaped the city and its culture. He was also a very nice guy! If we didn’t take this tour, I don’t think we would appreciate the city as much as we do now. We are now armed with a whole list of things to do and restaurants to go to. Thank you Romain!
