It has been known since antiquity, the wonderful decorations include colourful painted sunken reliefs featuring the traditional ritual texts (Litany of Ra, Book of Gates etc) and Ramses before the gods. Unusual here are the secular scenes, in the small side rooms of the entrance corridor, showing foreign tributes, such as highly detailed pottery imported from the Aegean, the royal armoury, boats and, in the last of these side chambers, the blind harpists that gave the tomb one of its alternative names: ‘Tomb of the Harpers’

Of coursethere is a material decrease in the number of lateral rooms, and a dramatic increase in the height of the corridors and rooms. Also, for the first time, the entrance was made considerably wider than earlier tombs .

Unforgettable Experience!

We landed at Luxor Airport (from Cairo) at 06:30 am. Our guide Khalid Eltayeb was already waiting for us outside with the biggest smile. We still had to ''wake up'', but as soon as Khalid starting talking to us about the history of Luxor we were awake and getting more and more excited. Khalid has his Master's degree in Egyptology and is probably the most passionate guide I've ever encountered. He loves sharing his knowledge so much, it's inspiring. Needless to say, we've learned a LOT! It always was my mom's dream trip to go to Egypt and experience the mysteries around the temples and pyramids. Unfortunately, she had an injury right before we made the trip, so we were worried we weren't going to be able to experience everything as planned. With the help of Khalid and our driver, we were able to experience everything and more! The entire trip was done in a very spacious air-conditioned van, allowing my mom to lay down during the drive. They assisted us with so much care with everything. We started out at Karnak Temple, afterwards we went for an early lunch (because we skipped breakfast). The rooftop restaurant that Khalid brought us to (named Africa) had a perfect view over the nile. The food was amazing and the coffee was the best coffee I've had in Egypt. Then we saw the Colossi of Memnon, jumped out for pictures real quick, and afterwards went on to the Valley of the Kings, which was so much more than I ever expected! We got to visit 3 tombs and Khalid knew exactly which tombes would have the most details to see (spoiler: It's not the Toetanchamon one). Afterwards we dropped by a local artisan place where they create the most beautiful souvenirs, lamps, etc. from alabaster stone (handmade). Since we spent much time everywhere for pictures and shopping at the artisan place (btw Khalid knew the best picture spots!), we only had time for one more temple. We ended up at the Habu temple, which was absolutely stunning! We couldn't have wished for more. Thank you Khalid for being so patient with us and giving us the experience of a lifetime!

Best tour we did in Egypt!

Khalid was the best guide we had in our whole time in Egypt. His knowledge of the history and stories at each place we visited on this tour was truly incredible. We were able to ask as many questions as we liked and he happily answered everything. His English was perfect and he really cared about making sure we had a really great time. Nothing was rushed, and he always knew went to visit each site so that we could avoid the crowds. He took us to a great Alabaster shop but there was no pressure to buy and he was upfront about how it worked with commissions etc. I will be recommending Khalid as a guide to every single person I meet who intends to go to Luxor and visit these incredible places! Thank you Khalid!

Amazing tour!

Wonderful experience. Saw all the main sites in great detail. The guide was super knowledgeable and very friendly. Nothing was too much effort for him. He even helped us find a great spot for lunch and even offered to lend us money when we were having problems with ATMs. Really couldn’t have asked for a better first day in Luxor!

Professional tour services provided by enthusiastic staff

I booked several activities through this company: a day trip from Aswan to Abu Simbel as well as a visit to Kom Ombo and Edfu (on the road to Luxor); a day tour to the monuments on the West Bank of Luxor and Karnak; a hot-air balloon ride over the West Bank of Luxor; and another guided visit to parts of the Theban Necropolis. The company has a network of guides and drivers as well as contacts to other service providers (e.g. the hot-air balloon companies) to make the various tours and activities possible. In general terms, this company is to be commended for its level of professionalism and dedication. The drivers were polite; the guides have different personalities and somewhat different guiding styles, and this can really make a difference in the service you receive. For each block of activities I had a different guide, and two of them, while knowledgeable, had aspects that I personally found problematic (one wanted to determine the amount of the gratuities based on the perceived luxury of the hotel, another was more personal than was appropriate and showed behavior that could be interpreted as sexual harassment). For the day tour on the West Bank I had the privilege of having Ragab as the guide. He is very passionate about what he does, and his enthusiasm for Ancient Egyptian history and for explaining it to foreign visitors is really what made that tour so enjoyable. He went out of his way to explain the monuments, patiently answered my questions about contemporary Egypt, took me for lunch, and managed to get me a ticket for a hot-air balloon ride, even though I had expressed my interest in a balloon ride rather late (given that there is high demand for that activity during the peak tourism season). The monuments were very impressive to see, and I was provided with a wealth of information, but it was Ragab’s ability to convey enthusiasm for what he does that made the tour so memorable.
