Itinerary
Colombia is the most diverse country in the world in fruit production as we grow over 430 fruits throughout our territory. This is why we think we should take you to a fruit stand to try some of the most delicious ones. In this short stop, we are going to visit a farmers' market so you can be in a non-touristy place. Once there we provide you different exotic fruits you probably didn’t even know existed, with intense sour or sweet flavors. This is around a 20 minutes stop that is on the way to Guatape but our guests have loved it so far, so we are sure you are going to love it too. It is also a good opportunity to stretch your legs after 1 hour of sitting in the car before we reach the coffee farm, our next stop.
The drive from the fruits to the coffee farm is around 35 minutes but is full of beautiful sceneries of kale plantations, onion, sugar cane, coffee, tomatoes and hundreds of mountains silhouettes. The coffee you enjoy each day has taken a long journey to arrive in your cup, with this complementary tour you get to know this amazing journey in detail. Right before getting to the Guatapé rock we have the opportunity to visit a wonderful coffee plantation which is definitely one of the most authentic tours you can do in Colombia. Between the time coffee beans are planted, picked and purchased, they go through a typical series of steps to bring out their best. The coffee production stages you will see are: • Planting • Picking the ripen beans selectively • Depulping • Fermenting and washing • Drying • Millling • Roasting
After this memorable visit to the coffee farm we continue our journey to the Rock of Guatape (also known as Peñol). As we drive we start telling you all the history of the rock: components, owners, when was it climbed up and more interesting facts. Once we get there you get the chance to climb up it. It’s 749 steps and 50 minutes approximately to go up and down. Once you reach the top, you can stay up there for as long as you wish as you witness one of the most beautiful views you have ever seen. This is not only our opinion but that of thousands of tourists we have taken there. At the top there are several shops where you can buy water, beer and many other items and sit down to appreciate the view of the lake, tiny islands and country houses. Whenever you feel ready to start going down we'll be ready waiting for you to continue our adventure to one of the most colorful towns in the country: Guatape town.
The drive to Guatape from the rock is only 10 to 15 minutes. At this town we take a fully narrated walking tour through the town's landmarks such as the church, main square, remembrance street, Zocalos Square and more. Once the walking tour has concluded we take you to the best restaurant in town to have a traditional delicious lunch (not included in the tour) where you have more than 20 different options to try the local cuisine accompanied of a cold sangria or a craft beer. After we finish our lunch and walking tour in this beautiful Guatape town we head back to Medellin in our comfortable private car with a smile in our faces and full of good memories and probably some gifts for our family back home.

This was an amazing day tour. Our guide Erika was fantastic from the moment of picking us up at the hotel to the very end. She was very knowledgeable, shared so many tips, accommodated our request to come back a bit earlier and generally was a very pleasant company for a day. The tour was also carefully planned and thought through. This is definitely worth the money and time.
It was an amazing experience! Erika showed us Guatapé and a beautiful family owned coffee farm. She is fluent in both English and Spanish. She was a wealth of knowledge and made the entire trip a 10/10 experience. The trip is safe and I would recommend this to everyone. Thank you again Erika, we hope to see you again in the near future.
Erika was a great guide and driver, she was accommodating, knowledgeable, and good company. It was a fun tour of penol and guatape, and a cool opportunity to see and participate in the entire coffee roasting process from planting, picking, processing, and tasting. Fun to try fruits from the region that are not found in other countries.
We had an amazing day with our guide Laura she was timely in her pick up. Very informative and patiently answered all our queries. El Peñol rock was an adventurous activity with gorgeous views from top. Guatape town was very colorful and Laura took us away from the crowds to highlight the important area of the town. Coffee tasting experience was enjoyable for the whole family. Highly recommend activity.
Erika picked us up at our hotel. She arrived early and had a wonderful day planned. We went to this delicious bakery for fresh rolls and then to Peñol Rock. Yes we did climb all 708 steps! The view was amazing from the top! Erika brought us to Guatapé. She recommended a great place for lunch and took us to shopping! She knew all the best places to go. Then off to the coffee plantation. Believe it or not this was the best part. ( I don’t even drink coffee) Lol. It was wonderful to pick coffee beans and learn how coffee is made. Erika was fun, knowledgeable, & kind. We had a wonderful trip.
Our private tour to Guatapé and the coffee estate was the absolute highlight of our trip, thanks to Erika! She is the most knowledgeable and patient guide we have ever met. The tour was perfectly paced—comprehensive and covering all the must-sees without ever feeling rushed. A special shout-out to the immersive coffee estate experience, personally led by the owner. We highly recommend this tour—definitely ask for Erika!
Excellent Erika! Very willing. He let us manage the timing to our liking and filled us with information. Highly recommended the tour to Guatapé
We had an incredible experience touring Guatapé, El Peñol, and a local coffee farm with Erika! From the very beginning, she was welcoming, kind, flexible, and incredibly knowledgeable. The entire day was thoughtfully planned out, and she made sure we got the absolute most out of the experience. Throughout the tour, Erika taught us so much about Colombia’s history, culture, coffee, and local traditions. We visited Guatapé and El Peñol, stopped to taste local fruits, toured a beautiful coffee farm, and she even helped us choose an incredible spot for lunch that ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. Every stop felt intentional and well thought out, and she made sure we were comfortable, enjoying ourselves, and had all of our questions answered along the way. We truly had such a wonderful time with Erika and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Medellín. It was one of the highlights of our trip!
We did the guatape, coffee farm, and fruit tour, and then the comuna 13 tour all with Erika. She was fantastic!!! These tours exceeded our expectations. It was so valuable to do these tours with Erika - she was so kind, warm, knowledgeable and passionate. We gained a much better understanding of Medellín and its history. We cannot recommend these tours and Erika enough, it’s a must if you are visiting!
Sara was amazing, we felt like we were visiting a friend in Medellin. At no point we felt rushed. Sara was making sure we had the best time. We enjoyed this so much that we ended up hiring her for our next day's tour of comina 13. Highly recommend her
