The history of Mdina traces back more than 4000 years. According to tradition it was here that in 60 A.D. that the Apostle St. Paul is said to have lived after being shipwrecked on the Islands. Furthermore it is said that St. Paul resided inside the grotto know as Fuori le Mura (outside the city walls) now known as St. Paul's Grotto in Rabat. Lamp lit by night and referred to as "the silent city", Mdina is fascinating to visit for its timeless atmosphere as well as its cultural and religious treasures.
What you can find at the Crafts Village in Ta' Qali The crafts village in Ta’ Qali is located in the former RAF wartime air-field and is a very popular tourist attraction in Malta. Here, different kinds of crafts and beautiful artefacts are sold created by local experts. You can watch the craftsmen blowing and forming glass, visit the goldsmiths filigree and beautiful jewellery and have a look at the beautiful sculptures and lace.
The Malta National Aquarium project is spread over approximately 20,000 square meters and comprises a public aquarium, a public landscaped belvedere at promenade level, a multi storey car park, facilities for local dive schools, catering facilities including a beach club, a merchandise outlet and a tourist information kiosk. The public aquarium has 41 tanks including reptiles, insects and amphibians, amongst others, Mediterranean fish, including fish commonly found in Maltese waters together with replicas of historical artefacts that one can find in the seas around the Maltese islands. The main tank of the aquarium houses species from the Indian Ocean, including eight black tip sharks, horn sharks, rays, eels and other exotic species. The main tank is approximately 12 meters in diameter and has a walk-through tunnel that allows visitors to experience the fish at a much closer range. All tanks are expertly themed to replicate the underwater environment.
A visit to Popeye Village, which was the original film set of the musical production Popeye is surely a must on your what to do list in Malta. This is a great place to take your kids to meet world famous cartoon characters. Popeye village is situated just off Mellieha Bay, so its an excellent place to visit before, after, or whilst spending the day at the numerous beaches and coves around the area or just next door at the enclosed Anchor Bay which is equipped with sun beds, umbrellas, showers, bathing areas, splash pools and a small kids area.
The Blue Grotto is located on the southern coast of Malta, west of Wied iz-Zurrieq facing the little deserted islet of Filfla. The site got its name from a British soldier who thought that since the area looks like the Grotta Azzurra in Capri, it deserves the same name, and in fact Blue Grotto is the equivalent for Grotta Azzurra in English. The site is extremely popular, attracting some 100,000 tourists per year, also for diving purposes. The site also features in the film Troy (2004) starring Brad Pitt. The location of this fascinating natural grotto combines with sunlight and the surrounding chain of caves to reflect the phosphorescent colours of the submerged flora and the deep dark shade of blue of the sea.
St Peter's Pool is a fantastic swimming spot, a natural lido in the rocks with large areas of flat slab for sunbathing between swims. Follow the narrow road out towards Delimara Lighthouse until you are just past the power station chimney (about 1.5km from the main road), and you'll see a low building on the left with 'St Peter's Pool' signposted on it.
The Valletta Waterfront, is a promenade in Floriana, Malta, mainly featuring three prominent buildings: a church in the middle, the Pinto Stores or the Pinto Wharf on the left, and the Forni Stores or the Forni Shopping Complex on the right. The buildings were originally stores and warehouses, built in the 18th century, and the design is attributed to Andrea Belli. The building project was officiated on August 10, 1752, with a mass festivity. The Forni Stores were used as the first British naval bakeries in Malta and were used for this function until 1844. The area is now a hub in Malta's cruise liner business as the Forni Cruise Passenger Terminal, and hosts a concentration of bars, retail outlets, and restaurants. The area was and remains a venue for several concerts and events.

Kevin was very informative and kind. He took us all over the island, including Mdina, Dingli Cliffs, Blue Grotto, Old Town and more. His van was very nice and the AC felt great in the July heat. He even stopped at a pharmacy for us so we could pickup something we needed. Definitely highly recommend.
Petra our driver was great and was able to help us customize our visit to Malta. He has great knowledge of the island and shared it with us. We had a great time.
Duncan was my driver. He was quite helpful and courteous. He had a suggested itinerary but fully sdjusted it to my needs. I had some accessibility issues requiring crutches. He had helpful suggestions on how to reduce the amount of stair s.
Considering we had rain on and off the day of our tour it could not have worked out better. Kenneth took us around the island and we got to see so much. He took us to a great restaurant for lunch, The Cliffs, which was wonderful. I highly recommend this tour.
Duncan was a fantastic guide and driver. He took us all over the island, pointed out all the sites, and answered all of our questions. He took us to a great restaurant for lunch. He also treated us to local pastries . We highly recommend him when you are in Malta.
Our driver Kevin was great. We let him know the things we definitely wanted to see (Mdina/Blue Grotto) and let him suggest the rest. Good chat with him about local life on the island of Malta. He also ensured we were back to our ship in time, but also did a quick tour of Valletta on the way back as our time in port did not allow for touring the capital as well as roaming the island.
We had an amazing experience in Malta. We booked a private cab to roam the city. Petra arrived early at our hotel as the traffic was light. He was very friendly and patient. He explained everything about what we needed to know about each place we visited. He also showed a short video clip of each place before our arrival. We visited the seat of government in Valletta, fish village in Marsaxlokk, Hagar Qim temples in Qrendi, Mdina and Mosta. They are beautiful places to visit. Petra gave us bottled water and croissants. I would highly recommend the taxi company if you plan to visit Malta.
Our private tour of Malta was very nice. I would have liked more information about the sights from our driver. Instead of telling us about Malta, he had videos on an iPad about each area for us to watch while he drove. But if I’m watching videos in the car, I’m not getting to look around at the scenery while we drive. My husband took to asking him lots of questions about the island, which he answered. He was friendly and nice, but he was basically a taxi driver to each area. He didn’t walk around with us or talk to us about anything. We didn’t get to walk around Valletta.. not enough time.. which I’m not sure how that happened since some things we wanted to see were closed on a Sunday. Next time I will take a cheaper group tour.. at least those tour guides tell things about the area.
Kenneth was nothing short of magnificent. We felt like long lost family he had found and treated us soo special. We had an idea of where we would like to visit so Kenneth showed us his special Island. Memorable Perfect day.
“Outstanding private tour! Our driver was friendly, knowledgeable, and showed us the best of Malta at a relaxed pace. From historic sites to stunning coastal views, every stop was memorable. A perfect way to explore the island in comfort and style. Highly recommend!”
