Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple.

Wonderful guide. I enjoyed the stops we made. The driver even customized my request. Definitely recommend for solo or couple.
Thank yyou so much for wwriting a review.
Awesome private day tour with Dimuth to Kandy today. He is a tour guide/driver, provided lots of information about the places we were going, spoke better English than our previous driver from another company. Clean van, he is a safe driver in the country’s crazy traffic. We were looked after well with needs for washrooms, coverings to go inside the temple, umbrella for the rain. We had to pay to see the orphan elephants in Pinnawala, can pay extra to bathe the animals, bring spare clothes for this. Usual route to Kandy had a landslide, so we had to take a longer windy road, we then lost couple of hours because of the heavy traffic and missed some of the attractions. Temple of tooth relic need to remove shoes, cover arms and below knees; shawls at the entrance were arranged for us by Dimuth. He also took very nice photos of us. He toured us around the temple and explained lots of things. Buffet lunch had a great spread of food, you pay for drinks but there’s free coffee and tea. Bring spare money for tipping for the short massage at the herbal garden. 3-4hrs each spent on the road to Kandy and back to Colombo, raining in the afternoon to night, long day, got back to hotel past ten; still highly recommend this tour with Dimuth. Good to be prepared.

An unforgettable day in Srilank, thanks to Dimuth. He was adorable honest, and always caring. He introduced me to the history of the city kandy and all unique place with magical experience: feeding elephants, preparing their energy mixture, walking alongside them and even swimming with them... a dream awakened! Dimuth thought of everything, even taking great pictures for me. And the icing on the cake: the food was excellent, varied, consistent and absolutely delicious! Everything was perfectly organized and authentic. I would highly recommend Dimuth to anyone who wants to have a memorable experience in Srilanka Thank you for a fantastic day.

My special thanks to the excellent tour guide Mr. Dimuth, who gave me a collection of unforgettable and beautiful experiences in my life, the time I spent with beautiful people in a beautiful country. I will never forget getting up close to beautiful animals, especially elephants, and experiencing their way of life. I will never forget to visit Sri Lanka again.... Wow, crazy traffic to and from Kandy. The local buses speed and are have their own road rules. I could see myself on the RH passenger side being wiped out, but thankfully Dimuth was a good driver and got us back safely to the port in the thunderstorm. It’s over 3 hours each way to Kandy, so we didn’t have a lot of time there, just mostly nice viewpoints, around the lake and Big Buddha. It isn’t really the highlands and is still very hot. Lunch was good in a restaurant dedicated to tour buses and day trippers. The Spice Garden 23 is OK, but don’t believe the owner’s claims of university qualified masseurs and government owned/sanctioned operations. Head, neck, backs and hands massage is ‘complimentary’ but a substantial tip is expected. Products other than straight spices are expensive and unproven. It’s one of those commission stops. The elephant walk to the river for a bath is a nice spectacle at Pinnewalla and we enjoyed the tea factory visit, where we bought too much! Good gifts though.
Thank you so much for helping and recommending us
The trip itself was good, elephant Orphanage is a must they are beautiful. My issue is upon return & looking at what should have been included we didn't visit Ape Gama therefore no tickets purchased (no refund either) We also booked an over night stay in Kandy with Sigiriya & Dambulla we did not go to Dambulla (this time our choice) again no refund as they buy tickets on arrival. Therefore around $52 £40 or 16000LKR was pocketed by the guide or company. We also didn't get any time in Kandy to walk about and visit any shops.
We apologize if we made a mistake. if you requested a refund, we could. we couldn't do pinnawala ape gama because of the less time. and we couldn't do dambulla cave temple because of your tiredness.
