Chefchaouen is one from the most important cities in Morocco, It unique charm gives an impression of unreality. With its blue-rinsed houses, the whole city seems to be bathed in azure. You walk around as if you were in a dream. During this tour, you will explore the fortress (kasaba) of Moulay Ali Ben Rached Which stands in the middle of the old quarter: its lush gardens, located in the center of the city, are a haven of freshness. The inescapable Medina with its famous narrow winding alleys, is an opportunity to mingle with the local population, and to smell and taste delights: from freshly baked bread, to skillfully prepared tagines. The waterfall of Ras El Maa, where the water comes gushing out of the mountain, that local women come to do their washing. The sound of the water and the verdant hills just beyond the medina wall provide a sudden, strong dose of nature. After exploring of this living museum, we will drive back through the Ref Mountains to Fez.

This listing should read “Taxi ride to Chefchaouen, with information text message” as I feel the description on the listing was misleading - under the heading “Omega Tour” it implies there is a tour included (photo attached) words used “on this tour”. There is no tour. Mistakenly I thought it included a tour of the city with an official guide (as the others we booked have). There is no tour- just a text message. Communication seemed to be difficult, the company claimed they couldn’t find me on Whats App (everyone else has managed), we weren’t given a drivers name before we were picked up - other tour operators certainly offer a smoother pre-trip service. To be fair, I should have let them know we needed to stop for breakfast before we left (as our Air B&B don’t provide one before 9am) as this confused things, but our driver Mehdi took us to an amazing Roadside Cafe where the food was great. Mehdi went above and beyond to work around the changes and be flexible to our needs, he put in a really long day and his work ethic was flawless and the driving felt very safe. My husband says Mehdi was a 5 star gentleman, and we believe he may not have been informed as to what was promised by the tour company. It also annoyed me that the minute I got to Chefchaouen, the company were messaging me on Whats App about the trip- I hadn’t even had 5 minutes to work out what was going on- it felt like I was being harassed. We ended up getting a guided tour through the Tourist information, which was 100% worth the extra money. It wasn’t the hassle free trip experience I’ve had with other tour operators in Morocco-and I found the whole day (bar our guided tour of the actual city) quite a stressful experience. If it had been listed as a taxi ride with text message I wouldn’t have booked it. I’ve felt quite pressured to leave a 5 star review but it wasn’t a 5 star experience. Hopefully this will mean others can see transparently what they are getting and decide whether to book accordingly.
We had a wonderful day trip to Chefchaouen, made truly special by our guide and driver, Younes. From the moment we set off, his hospitality stood out — he was friendly, thoughtful, and generous in sharing personal stories and insights about Morocco, which made the journey feel authentic and engaging rather than just a standard tour. Even with heavy rain along the way, Younes’ driving skills were excellent and made the 8-hour round trip feel like a breeze. We always felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of. His professionalism and calm confidence, especially in challenging weather, made this a truly memorable experience, and we would highly recommend this tour.

I was fortunate to have had a day with my Private guide Abdel Karim, Driving to Chefchaouen I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Our drive was several hours from Fes, Abdel and I passed the time in conversation the whole way there and back, he was so accommodating when I wanted to stop to see the roadside stalls along the way. Our driver Mohamed was great. Very good driver, he explained a lot of things to us during this 3:30 journey he knew how to respond to all our desires and gave us all the time we needed to wander around Chefchaouen without putting pressure on our schedule. his vehicle (mini van) was very comfortable, clean and spacious for long legs. don't hesitate to leave him a good tip stephane and anne
