I booked a private day tour from Luxor to the Edfu and Kom Ombo temples, with an option to be dropped off in Aswan. While some parts of the tour were acceptable, the overall experience was disappointing and poorly organized. Communication before the tour was extremely weak. Messages sent through the booking platform chat were ignored. Messages sent to the WhatsApp number provided in the booking confirmation were also unanswered until the morning of the tour. There was no contact number for the guide or driver, which created serious issues. Pickup was scheduled for 6:00 AM. The driver arrived about 1 hour late after multiple messages and calls from my side. The delay was explained by internal coordination problems, which should not affect the customer. The tour was advertised as a private tour. However, at the first temple (Edfu), the guide informed us that another group would join us. When I questioned this, I was told that another guide was unavailable due to a family issue. While I sympathize with personal circumstances, this does not justify providing a service different from what was paid for. The guide at Edfu was knowledgeable, and the explanation there was good. At Kom Ombo, however, we were handed over to a different guide who gave a very rushed explanation lasting about four minutes. After that, we were told to walk around on our own. Other groups at the temple were receiving much more detailed guided explanations at the same time. Additionally, when we returned to the agreed meeting point, the guide was not there. We had no driver contact and our messages to the tour company were ignored. Eventually, we found the car ourselves and continued the trip. On the positive side, the vehicle was clean and comfortable, and the driver drove calmly and delivered us to the correct location in Aswan as requested. However, these positives do not compensate for the poor organization, lack of communication, and failure to deliver a truly private guided experience. I would not recommend this tour to travelers who value reliability, clear communication, and transparency.
Great tour of Edfu and Kom Ombo from Ahmed Omar! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!
