Private Day Tour to Shangri-la from Lijiang by Car
Description
Shangri-La is situated 170km from Lijiang, and about 2.5 hours by car. This private day tour will let you visit the impressive place from Lijiang by private vehicle. The attractions include Sumtseling Monastery, Dukezong Ancient Town, and Napahai Reserve. Tibetan lunch is included, and pickup from your Lijiang hotel is at 8am. Note: This is a very long day tour. It is suggested to choose 2-day tour if you have more time.

Itinerary
At 8:00am, you will be picked up in the hotel lobby of your Lijiang hotel. Then you will take 2.5-hour car ride for 170km Shangri-la. You will view the fantastic Tibetan Symtsaling Monastery. The history of the monastery can be tracked back to 1681AD. There are impressive statues, carvings, Thangka paintings, and old houses in the traditional buildings.
Then you will head to the old town of Shangri-La, Dukezong Ancient Town. You will have opportunity to taste the Tibetan lunch. Then you will walk in the old lanes to view the temple, shops and bars etc.
Napahai Reserve is about 10km away from Shangri-La. You will view the stunning lake and the snow-capped mountains around the lake in the afternoon. Later, transferred 2.5 hours by car back to your Lijiang hotel where the day tour concludes.

This is a great tour for anyone short on time, but wanting to cover highlights in Shangri-La on a one day visit. Prior to being picked up at our hotel, SilkRoad Trips communicated with us confirming date and pick up time. We were in a comfortable mini-van for our ride. Our tour guide, Tenzin, spoke very good English, and gave us some interesting insights into the history of the town, and its people. We toured Songzanlin Monastery, and spent a good amount of time there. Tenzin took us to the best photographic spots, which we appreciated. Thereafter, we had a delicious lunch, before proceeding to walk around Dukezong Old Town. The tour concluded with a drive to Napa Hai lake. Well worth the long day. Great experience for us, great tour guide and company! Would definitely use again
