Private City Tour in Frida Kahlo, Coyoacan, and Xochimilco

Description
The best way to get to know a place within the city is by visiting it with true local people, during our tour we will be interacting with them. As this is a completely private tour, we can adjust to the needs that are often required. Keep in mind that due to the museum occupancy, the Frida Kahlo museum is the last point to touch.

Our tour guide, Sara was amazing. She took us to the Frida Kahlo museum and had so many extras to share about her life. She also took us to another museum of the collections of Diego Rivera. We enjoyed homemade snacks on the boats at Xochimilco and some dancing. She was able to incorporate our special requests too.
Excellent experience. Our guide, Jaime was ontime, knowledgeable and friendly. He also is respected by the locals in the areas that we visited and this put us at ease. We booked last minute and the Frida Kahlo house wasnt available as an option so he gave us another very good museum to visit. I would do this toyr again and any other tour that Jaime does as he is such a good guide. I recommend!
This was a wonderful tour. The boats on the canals at Xochimilco are so colorful and it's just such a cool experience to see the man made Islands. Mariachi bands will come along side and board your boat if you ask. While we did that and were glad that we did, beware...they charge 300 pesos per song and will talk you into more than one! Fun but pricey. Our own fault for falling for it. The best part about Coyoacan is the market where I would have liked to spend more time. Walking the neighborhood was ok but not something I would call a must do. Interesting non the less. The Frida Kahlo is really nice. I researched her story and watched the documentary before going which really made the museum much more interesting!!!!!! So I give a thumbs up to this tour. I must mention, that due to health concerns, we did this as a private tour with just my husband and I and our private tour guide/driver. Our guide Jaime was wonderful and we used him throughout our trip for all of our tours. While not the cheapest, it was definitely worth it to us to have control over our experience should we need to alter our itinerary for any reason. I would highly recommend this Rene with Stepping Mexico and tour guide Jaimie.
Jaime was our driver and guide for our experience in Coyoacán. He was amazing. It was so easy to coordinate with him once I made the booking. He picked us up at our hotel in a lovely car and took us all around. His English is excellent as is his local knowledge. This was not our first time to Mexico City but it was a first to this particular area of the city and we did not know what to expect. The boat trip was a lot of fun and there were excellent local snacks that remained a favorite our group. We had a lovely walk through the neighborhood of Coyoacán, to include a great coffee break, and then time at the Khalo museum. Strongly recommend both the experience and the guide.
Besides the fact that the place is very beautiful, our guide explained everything very well and with great dedication. The entire Stepping Mexico team made us feel at home, highly recommended 100%.
We met Stepping through foreign friends, and thus we decided to take this tour that fascinated both my girlfriend and me. It is an excellent itinerary to get to know a part of Mexico City with deep roots, pride, and authenticity. In addition to the way we were attended to from the reservation to the end of the tour... we definitely must indulge in the pleasure of being tourists in our own country.
Our tour guide, Armando, picked us up for a tour to Xochimilco, Coyoacan, and the Frida Kahlo Blue House. It was easy to communicate with him to get details of pick up location and time. He was punctual, knowledgeable, and pleasant! Hands down a wonderful tour! Thank you!
Overall, this was a very enjoyable and informative tour. We really appreciated the opportunity to experience local culture firsthand, visit the markets, and gain a deeper understanding of the area beyond the typical tourist experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and provided valuable insight into the history, culture, and communities we visited. There were a few areas that could be improved. We paid extra to have our group name displayed on the boat, but unfortunately it was misspelled, which was disappointing. Toward the end of the tour, the guide shared some personal political opinions that were not aligned with everyone in our group and made a few people uncomfortable. While everyone is entitled to their views, it felt a bit out of place during the tour. Communication regarding additional expenses could also be clearer. We were under the impression that the food served on the boat was included, only to learn afterward that it was an additional charge. Setting expectations upfront would help avoid confusion. The itinerary was packed, which allowed us to see a lot in a short amount of time, but it also left very little opportunity to relax, browse, or shop. At times, it felt like we were being rushed from one location to the next. That said, our guide was accommodating and even made time for us to stop for churros from a place we had been hoping to visit, which was a highlight of the day. Despite a few frustrations, we left with a much better appreciation of the local culture and would still recommend the tour to visitors looking for an authentic experience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the opportunity to experience the local culture, markets, and neighborhoods, and that you found the tour informative overall. We would like to respectfully clarify a few points mentioned in your review: • Regarding the group name displayed on the boat, we sincerely apologize for the spelling mistake. However, the personalized sign service was never paid for. A payment link was sent prior to the tour, but the payment was not completed. Even so, we arranged for the sign to be prepared, and we regret that the name was not displayed correctly. • Concerning the food and drinks on the boat, the food included in the tour was provided as described. The additional charge was only for alcoholic beverages that were ordered separately during the boat ride, which are not included in the tour price. • Regarding the comment about political discussions, we take this feedback seriously. Our guides are instructed to focus on culture, history, and local experiences while respecting the diverse backgrounds and viewpoints of our guests. While we have not received similar feedback regarding this guide before, we will review the matter internally to ensure our standards of professionalism are consistently maintained. • As for the pace of the itinerary, our guide did their best to accommodate the group’s requests throughout the day, including the additional stop for churros that you mentioned. The schedule was also affected by several extended stops while bills were being settled at different locations, which reduced the amount of free time available later in the tour. We always welcome constructive feedback and continuously work to improve our experiences. At the same time, we believe it is important that reviews accurately reflect the services that were included and the circumstances of the day. Thank you again for visiting Mexico City with us, and we wish you all the best in your future travels. Kind regards
What a wonderful introduction to some unique areas that CDMX has to offer! My wife and I had a private tour with Armando and had a great time. He was very friendly and informative and answered all of our dozens of questions without skipping a beat. We loved the tour of the Xochimilco canals and also really enjoyed Coyoacan. We really liked the opportunity for free time in the area to explore on our own and shop at the weekend artisan market. Casa Azul was wonderful and we are so glad that was included as part of the tour. Would absolutely recommend to first time visitors- lovely for couples/friend groups but would also be fun for families. We will definitely be re-visiting both Xochimilco and Coyoacan on our next visit!
Carlos was a great and fun guide. We learned a great deal about Mexico City’s history, culture and values of its people.
